Annapolis Rotaract Club

Annapolis Rotaract Club We're an Annapolis-based organization of young professionals who help community-focused nonprofits through service and fundraising projects.

The Annapolis Rotaract Club was established in 2008, in affiliation with the Annapolis Rotary, by a group of young professionals who wanted to connect with other like-minded, service-oriented people. With a focus on both local and international communities, the club provides opportunities for young people, ages 18+, opportunities to socialize, develop professionally, and participate in community s

ervice projects. As the club gained momentum, members identified a need to expand. The Annapolis Rotaract Foundation, established in 2014, is a 501(c)3 that builds awareness and addresses the challenges of local and international issues through fundraising efforts and advocacy on behalf of community-driven nonprofit organizations. Through the foundation, Rotaract’s signature event, Rock the Dock, was founded to build awareness, bring the community together, and fund local nonprofit efforts. With the support of our members and local partners, The Annapolis Rotaract Club and Foundation will continue to offer both hands-on and financial help to ensure the people who need it most are receiving the assistance they need.

Last week, some of the 2025 Rock the Dock planning committee members had the pleasure of presenting an $18,610 check to the Executive Director of the Anne Arundel County Literacy Council, Jane Seiss, at the Rotary Lunch Meeting.

This money will be used for a multitude of projects, including upgrading books and materials for their ESL program, cover training expenses for 40+ tutors, enabling greater outreach into the communities that need their help the most, and more!

Thank you to everyone who supported Rock the Dock and helped make it an incredible success, especially our generous sponsors and partner. It is with your help that we can continue serving local nonprofits who are doing amazing work in our local community.

Each ticket to Rock the Dock supports the Anne Arundel County Literacy Council (AACLC)—a local nonprofit providing free, one-on-one tutoring in literacy, math, GED prep, and English language skills to adults across our community.

📚 In the last year alone, AACLC helped more than 250 learners achieve meaningful milestones:
✔️ 6 earned their high school diploma
✔️ 17 landed new or better jobs
✔️ 9 pursued higher education or training
✔️ 3 became U.S. citizens
✔️ 2 received their driver’s licenses
✔️ Many more gained confidence and life skills through improved reading, writing, and language

💡 AACLC’s impact is powered by 239 trained volunteers who collectively donated over 16,000 hours—meeting students weekly in public libraries, detention centers, and community spaces throughout Anne Arundel County.

Meet Eva Barrat, our wonderful first-place scholarship recipient!
She is graduating from Broadneck High School and will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study international relations and public policy. She hopes to pursue a career that influences international policy and advocates for immigration rights.

Eva recently served as a Page in the Maryland General Assembly and is actively involved in her school and community. She holds the position of Secretary of her class in the Student Government Association, serves as the Community Relations Officer for the Spanish Honor Society, treasurer of the History Honors Society, and is the Founder and President of the Global Awareness Club. She hopes to pursue a career that influences international policy and advocates for immigration rights. Additionally, she is the president of the Broadneck Interact Club, which has raised over $2,500 for Doctors Without Borders over the past two years by organizing neighborhood 5K runs and various other community service projects.

We’re so proud of Eva and can’t wait to see all they accomplish!

There’s no day-off for Rock the Dock planning! 💪

Meet Sanaii Simmons, our awesome second-place scholarship recipient!
She is graduating from North County High School and will be attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University to study as a STEM Major.

She is passionate about innovation and technology, Sanaii has led multiple STEM initiatives, including the development of HydroSense, an AI-powered irrigation system that integrates ESP32 microcontrollers and real-time data for sustainable water management. Beyond engineering, she is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness, serving as President of Aevidum and the Black Student Union, and Treasurer of the Rho Kappa Honor Society. With a strong background in robotics, leadership, and community service, Sanaii aims to use engineering to solve real-world problems and uplift underrepresented communities.

We’re so proud of Sanaii and can’t wait to see all they accomplish!
