Dear Cougar Friends and Family,
As many of you know, one of our own, Chad Stewart, has been courageously battling Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, for over two years. The treatments he requires have placed a heavy financial burden on Chad and his family. To rally around him in this difficult time, Cape Football & Cheer will be launching a fundraiser, and we need our entire community to come together to make this effort truly special.
Chad has given so much to our program and to this community. He coached Cape Football from 2010 to 2019, leading teams to two county championships and a state championship. After his coaching tenure, he continued giving back by officiating youth football games in the area, and he also served as a coach with the Chesapeake Bayhawks Lacrosse program. Beyond sports, Chad is a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud U.S. Marine who has served our country with honor.
I’ll never forget a moment years ago when Chad approached me asking for a meeting with the Broadneck coaches. Not for his own gain, but to improve his coaching so the kids he led could benefit. That’s who Chad is: a selfless man who has always put others before himself. He’s one of the best people you’ll ever meet.
Now it’s our turn to step up for him and his family.
We’ll be holding a Crab Feast Raffle during Homecoming on October 18th. The winner will receive:
• 1 bushel of #1 crabs
• 2 cases of beer (regular or lite, winner’s choice)
• 1 case of water
• 2 twelve-packs of soda
• Old Bay, vinegar, crab mallets, knives, and paper
Tickets: $5 each, or 5 for $20.
Tickets can be purchased at the snack bar during games, or before practice from 5:30–6:00 PM. If you’d like to help sell tickets, please see us at the snack bar to pick some up.
For those who would prefer to donate directly, contributions can be made at the field or through the family’s GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/53057b852
“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members. Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”
Thank you all for your support of Chad and the Stewart family during this time of great need.
With gratitude,
Cape Cheer
