May is recognized as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Month, and this week we honor National Police Week. Tonight, we gathered at the Wiley H. Bates Center with the Caucus of African American Leaders to celebrate the dedicated men and women of our local law enforcement community…the
Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office,
the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police, the Maryland Capital Police, and our outstanding Annapolis Police Department.

A truly moving highlight of the evening was the unveiling of two plaques honoring the African American police officers who have faithfully served the Annapolis Police Department throughout history. The evening was filled with heartfelt and powerful tributes from all the speakers, reflecting on service, sacrifice, leadership, and community.

We are most grateful for these remarkable officers who work every day to protect, serve, and strengthen our Annapolis community.

⭐️ What an exciting morning… our Acting Police Chief, Amy Miguez, was recognized with a “New Leader” Award from Leadership Anne Arundel. Our Co-Chairs, Angel Traynor and Judy Buddensick (FLG22) and BOD Member Roxana Rodriguez (FLG21) were there to cheer her on at the ceremony at Carrol's Creek Cafe. She received the award from Jared Littmann, Mayor of Annapolis, who was also recognized with an award today. ⭐️

Our APF Board was honored to attend the Annapolis Police Department Promotion and Retirement Ceremony last night. Reverend Samuel Jerry Colbert offered the opening and closing prayers and introduced the evening’s speakers, setting a meaningful tone for the celebration.

We were especially proud to see our Co-Chair, Judy Buddensick, serve as emcee for such a special event.

Congratulations to all of the officers recognized; we are incredibly grateful for your service and proud of your many accomplishments.

Annapolis Police Department Detective Courtney Moore worked until the middle of the night — and still showed up this morning to run the Annapolis Running Festival as our Charity Chaser. That’s the kind of dedication that makes him not only an outstanding member of the Annapolis Police Department, but also a truly remarkable human being.

We’re most grateful to the Corrigan Sports team for their incredible support each year.

It was also wonderful to see so many community leaders on site cheering Courtney on, including Jared Littmann, Mayor of Annapolis, Acting Police Chief Amy Miguez, Annapolis Police Foundation Co-Chair Judy Buddensick and The City Of Annapolis Community Engagement Specialist Laura Richards.
