Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, the day when the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Today is a day to remember that freedom, justice, and equality are not gifts; they are hard-fought prizes, won through collective action and courage of ordinary people demanding better.
The labor movement and the fight for civil rights have always been intertwined. From the struggle to end slavery to the fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, voting rights, and economic justice, working people have stood together to build a more perfect union.
Today, we honor the work of those who came before, and we recommit ourselves to the ongoing work ensuring everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
Solidarity forever. โ๐ฟโ๐พโ๐ฝ
