Did you know the Delaware River is the largest source of ocean plastic pollution in North America? 🚫🥤🌊

The good news? We can stop it together.

Last year, volunteers joined us for the very first Cleanup Crawl, with three cleanups spanning the Delaware watershed.

Together, we removed more than 900 pounds of debris before it could make its way to the ocean. 💙♻️

This year, we’re doing it again.

📅 October 17-18, 2026
📍 Philadelphia/Camden, Newark, and Dewey Beach

Join Surfrider’s Cleanup Crawl, a weekend of cleanups tracing the journey of plastic pollution from the Delaware River to the Atlantic Ocean.

Together, we’ll help protect our waterways while showing how trash dropped hundreds of miles upstream can end up on our beaches.

What if eating out in Annapolis meant supporting clean oceans AND the farms protecting them? 🙌

LEO Annapolis figured it out. 🤝 They’re a certified Ocean Friendly Restaurant proving that hyper-seasonal, hyper-local dining isn’t just better tasting—it’s better for the Bay.

No single-use containers. Locally sourced ingredients from farms like Maidstone Harvest in Annapolis, Roseda Farms in Monkton, Chapel’s Creamery in Easton.

This is what being friends of the ocean looks like. 🌊

Look for the Ocean Friendly Restaurant certification when you dine out in Annapolis.

Spring & Summer moments ☀️

- We're so proud that our chapter had the chance to support Jack Johnson’s Village Green All At Once effort, shining a light on local nonprofits dedicated to protecting our environment during his concert in Columbia, Maryland.

Swipe through to see more exciting activities! 🤙

This is where all the good people went 😉

It was wonderful to meet and chat with like-minded people who share our passion for protecting our coasts, bays, and oceans. Making new friends of the ocean made the experience even more special.

We were excited to showcase the surfboard that traveled across the country 🇺🇸 and helped raise awareness for Surfrider Foundation’s Drilling Is Killing campaign.

Local business owners proudly signed their names in support of this important cause 🙌.

If you're a business owner and want to get involved with our local chapter, support our efforts, or learn more about becoming an Ocean Friendly Restaurant, send us a DM or email [email protected].

We'd love to have you join us as a local partner!👌

We hosted monthly chapter social hours, where we deepen our understanding of various conservation topics ✨

During our latest session, Ocean-Friendly Restaurants Coordinator, Nicole Wolfe, shared expert insights on native plants and invasive species in Maryland!

It was very informative and exciting to see all of the different species that we have right in our backyard.

If you're interested in viewing it and learning a few fun facts, send us a DM with the word INVASIVE, and we'll send you a shared link 🙌

And of course, a fan favorite, here's a recap of our successful cleanup at Sandy Point State Park. 😎

Interested in contributing? Send us a DM to find out how you can get involved. We'll provide all the details. 🦀

From January to March, our focus was on engaging with our local community. 😎😎

- Our local high school clubs andchapter members visited the Annapolis State House, met with representatives, and discussed the "skip the stuff" ordinance (more details coming soon!) as well as supporting the bottle bill.

- Hosted social hours to learn from local organizations and businesses working to protect our oceans.

- Organized multiple cleanup events around the Bay.

So if you're interested in this kind of local activism, send us a DM to find out how you can get involved 🤙 We’d love to have you!
