Annapolis, we’re still carrying the meaning of yesterday in our hearts. ❤️🇺🇸
From Cheryl and Brie thank you to everyone who helped make our Wreaths Across America ceremony happen, and happen beautifully. With the strength of our local community connections, special sponsorships, and the support of so many organizations (including our Fleet Reserve), this mission was flawlessly achieved.
Wreaths Across America is more than a wreath. It’s a promise: to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Yesterday, you did exactly that, with your hands, your hearts, and your presence. 🎄✨
And standing at Annapolis National Cemetery added an extra layer of sacred history to the day. This cemetery was established during the Civil War era (1862), when Annapolis became a major hub for training and military medical care. Many of those laid to rest there were young servicemembers who never made it back to their units, taken by illness and hardship after time in local hospitals and camps. To walk those rows is to feel history not as a chapter in a book, but as names and dates and families. Quiet. Real. Permanent. 🕯️
We were also honored to work closely with Brewer’s Hill, a place that holds a special place in Maryland history as the first African American cemetery. And we had the privilege of presenting ceremonial wreaths to Eastport Veterans Park, another powerful moment of gratitude and remembrance.
We keep coming back to this truth:
Everyone dies twice, once physically and again when their name is no longer spoken.
It’s our hope that everyone who attended didn’t just experience a ceremony, but walked away having honored a local fallen veteran by saying their name. We encourage you to look up the name on the wreath you placed, learn a little of their story, and share it with the next generation. That’s how we keep them here with us.
If you have photos from yesterday and would like to share them, please post them in the comments (or message them to us). It would mean the world, and it will mark a special place in all our hearts. ❤️📸
Remember. Honor. Teach. 🇺🇸
