Our objective is to conserve, promote, and enhance the present and future availability of coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.

Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is a non-profit organization with 17 coastal state chapters spanning the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic seaboard, and the Pacific Northwest. CCA began in 1977 after drastic commercial overfishing along the Texas coast decimated redfish and speckled trout populations. 14 concerned recreational anglers created the Gulf Coast Conservation Association to combat commercial overfishing. The stewardship started with the “Save the Redfish” campaign, and by 1985, chapters had formed along the Gulf Coast. By the early ‘90s, the mid-Atlantic region and the New England had chapters. Washington and Oregon opened CCA chapters in 2007. CCA has participated productively in virtually every national fisheries debate since 1984. In the federal court system, CCA’s legal defense fund has been used to defend net bans; fight for the implementation of bycatch reduction devices; support pro-fisheries legislation; and battle arbitrary no-fishing zones. The CCA network is engaged in hundreds of local, state, and national projects that initiate scientific studies; fund marine-science scholarships; build artificial reefs; create finfish hatcheries; initiate hydrologic and contaminant studies; monitor freshwater inflows; support local marine law enforcement; and more. Through broad-based recreational angler support; a strong legal and legislative presence; decades of experience; and an unwavering vision for the future of U.S. and global marine resources, CCA battles for the sustainable health of our coastal fisheries and for recreational anglers’ interests.

🌊 THIS SATURDAY, WE’RE BUILDING SOMETHING BIGGER THAN A FINISH LINE 🌊

The SoWeBo Landmark 5K is coming, and CCA Maryland is showing up on the course with a mission: building reef balls that will restore habitat right here in Baltimore in the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River.

While runners are chasing PRs, our volunteers will be on the east side of Middle Branch Boat House, hands-on, building structures that give oysters and marine life a place to call home. Same morning, same energy, all for the water.

Want to be part of it? Reef Ball Builders should arrive by 8:30 AM. We’ll wrap up shortly after the race ends, before noon.

🚨TAKE ACTION, SAVE THE BAY🚨

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is accepting public comments on Draft Addendum II to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Menhaden. The proposal considers several important changes to the management of the industrial reduction fishery in the Chesapeake Bay.

Atlantic menhaden are a foundational forage fish. Striped bass, osprey, cobia, red drum, bluefish, dolphins, whales, and many other predators depend on menhaden as a source of food. Ensuring that enough menhaden remain available in the water is essential to the health and productivity of the Chesapeake Bay and the broader Atlantic ecosystem.

Public comments on Draft Addendum II must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on October 9, 2026.

- Filmed on the Chesapeake Bay or its tributaries
- Fish caught legally (rod & reel, hook & line, etc.); striped bass must follow catch-and-release/barbless hook rules
- Shoot in 1080p+ (4K preferred), steady shot, clear audio, vertical preferred — shaky or blurry clips won’t be accepted

🚫 No killing/blood/gore, no illegal gear or protected/out-of-season catches, no unsafe boating or offensive content — violations may be reported and disqualified.

✅ By entering, you’re confirming you fished legally with a valid MD license, have rights/consent for everyone shown, and give EJJI permission to feature your video (with credit when possible). Minors need parent/guardian permission. Valid email required.
