While AIJN is focused on the urgent needs in front of us, we want to take a moment and share our 2025 Community Report with you.

This report gives a snapshot of our impact last year. From expanding into detention representation, to the 6,303 miles driven by dedicated volunteers, we are so proud of all we accomplished together.

This year, our neighbors need us more than ever. We'll keep showing up, and we're grateful you're right here with us.

Delivering Immigration Justice with Jessa Coulter: County Executive Steuart Pittman recently had AIJN's executive director as a guest on his podcast. Check out their conversation about AIJN’s origin, legal representation, and how our successful model helps our immigrant neighbors have fair access to due process.

Last week, AIJN executive director, Jessa Coulter, was invited to speak to the Upper School students at Indian Creek School.

Students from the Spanish Honor Society prepared questions to help their classmates learn about our immigration system, why legal representation is so crucial, and how they can support immigrants in Anne Arundel County.

Thanks so much to this impressive group of student leaders and to the teachers and staff for the opportunity to share AIJN's work with the ICS community!

“'Why don’t they just get in line?'

It’s a question often directed toward undocumented immigrants living in the United States, a pointed challenge on why someone didn’t come to the country “the right way.”

The short answer: there is no “line” available for most immigrants. The pathway to American citizenship for the vast majority is long, complex, and financially draining."

---

Not all immigrants are eligible to apply for legal relief to remain in the United States. As American Immigration Council explains, for many immigrants, there is no pathway to U.S. citizenship.

For those with a pathway, there are significant barriers– high costs for an attorney, lack of transportation, and navigating the long and complex process alone.

This is why AIJN is here, and this is what we do: help our immigrant neighbors access legal representation to ensure due process.

“Why don’t they just get in line?" It's a question often directed toward undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.
