As Pride Month begins, we recognize and celebrate our LGBTQ+ members. The voices, spirit, and courage of LGBTQ+ members have always been a vibrant part of our organization. Three and a half years ago, The Annapolis Blend got a new name, and we're still finding new reasons to love it.

We welcomed new members who might never have found us otherwise, connected with new audiences, and felt a new energy take hold in our rehearsals that we're still riding today.

SingUnited International feels like that same kind of leap, and we're here for it. A name that reflects who we are today and where we are headed. It opens doors for singers who haven't found their people yet, for communities that haven't discovered barbershop harmony, for the next generation of women who are going to love this art form just as much as we do.

Here's a little Annapolis Blend history that feels pretty relevant right now. 😊

We weren't always "The Annapolis Blend." When our chorus was founded in 1966, we were the Arundelair Chorus. Becoming The Annapolis Blend didn't mean leaving that behind. We'll always be Arundelairs. Where we came from is just as much a part of us as where we're going.

In January 2023, we made the decision to change our name. It was scary. Change usually is. But looking back, our updated name helped us grow in ways we didn't expect, including welcoming new members who might not have found us otherwise.

So when we heard that Sweet Adelines International is becoming SingUnited International, we understand the mix of emotions that comes with it. The name Sweet Adelines is woven into this organization's history, into our history, and it always will be. A new name is just the next step forward, built on everything that came before.

If you ask us, SingUnited International couldn't have picked a better name for what we're working toward. 🎵

The name SingUnited International feels like it was made for a group like ours. "United" is exactly what we are: every rehearsal, every performance, every time we join together and ring those barbershop chords.

Sweet Adelines International has been our home for decades, and that history is ours to keep. A new name doesn't erase where we've been. It's just the next line of the song. We're proud of everything that brought us here, and we're excited to see where this one takes us.

Here's to building on something wonderful. 🎶
