🐾🚔 K-9 DARE TO THE RESCUE! Missing Child Safely Located! 🐾💙
The Rockville City Police Department is proud to recognize the outstanding work of our newest four-legged team member, Bloodhound Dare, who helped bring a missing 10-year-old child home safely!
On October 8, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., RCPD officers responded to the 200 block of Congressional Lane for a report of a missing child. After the family conducted an extensive search without success, officers quickly established a large perimeter and deployed K-9 Dare to assist in locating the child.
Using a scent article, Dare immediately went to work tracking the missing child. Within just 15 minutes of beginning the track, Dare successfully located the child in a wooded area in the 100 block of Congressional Lane!
Thankfully, the child was unharmed and safely reunited with their family. ❤️
Chief of Police Jason West shared:
"Tonight's successful search demonstrates the tremendous value that Dare brings to our department and the community we serve. Having a specially trained bloodhound provides our officers with an invaluable resource when searching for missing children, vulnerable adults, and others who may be in danger. Dare's ability to locate this child so quickly is a testament to the importance of this investment in public safety. We are incredibly proud of Dare and our officers, and I am confident this will be the first of many successful searches that help bring loved ones home safely."
👏 Please join us in giving Dare and all the responding officers a well-deserved round of applause for a job well done!
Great work, Dare! You earned some extra treats! 🐾
