Join participants across all 50 states and U.S. territories to read the document aloud together, synchronized across time zones. The start time is 6 pm (EDT), July 8, 2026!
Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area (CCHA) invites residents, organizations, businesses, community groups, historic sites, and local governments throughout Annapolis and Anne Arundel County to participate in Sharing the Spirit of America, a region-wide public reading of the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. EDT. This event commemorates the moment 250 years ago when Americans first gathered to hear the Declaration read aloud in public. We hope to inspire 25 or more reading locations across our heritage area and encourage everyone to participate.
