Thank you to Chesapeake Conservancy board member Randall “Randy” Larrimore for this beautiful tribute to his late stepbrother, Doug Smarte, and to all who have served our country.

We’re proud to have played a part in conserving the recently expanded Oyster House Park, a special place along the Nanticoke River, now home to the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance.

We're excited to announce that this year's osprey chick will be named Poppy after our incredible volunteer.

Despite a turbulent and hot summer, Poppy has been resilient and fledged. We expect Poppy to leave the nest soon for their first migration south, followed shortly by Tom and Audrey.

Don't miss a moment from our favorite osprey family and tune in at https://buff.ly/8RwuPWB

We want to extend a large thank you and congratulations to Michaela Rolecki, our CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps member.

During her year of service, Rolecki coordinated and led the collection and distribution of 13,000+ live stakes which allowed the program to hit the milestone of a total 100,000 stakes! Rolecki also planned, planted and maintained a pollinator garden on Susquehanna University's campus.

Rolecki has been a fantastic team member and partner and, we are eager to see where her skills lead her!

Menhaden are a key food source for many species in the Chesapeake Bay, especially osprey. Overfishing of menhaden poses one of the largest threats to osprey populations since DDT.

What would this loss mean? Join our friends at Virginia Osprey Foundation, INC for an in-person screening of the documentary, the Last Osprey, and discover the importance of this Chesapeake icon.
