LADY ANGLER KAITLIN MORAIS TOPS THE FIELD WITH A 35 INCH WHOPPER
Kaitlin Morais of Annapolis, MD won the 2023 Annapolis Anglers Club (AAC) Fall Rockfish Tournament benefitting the Maryland-based EVAN Foundation by reeling in a huge 35 ¼ inch rockfish (striped bass) during the November month-long event hosted by the AAC on the Chesapeake Bay.
Morais’ winning fish was promptly released following a quick measurement and photo. Of her catch Morais said, “I’m honored to be part of such an important cause. The tournament is a fun and exciting way to make a difference. It’s great that more women are getting out there on the water.”
This year’s event, which included a field of 35 anglers checking in over 40 fish throughout the month, will raise over $15,000 for The EVAN Foundation. To date, more than $100,000 has been raised by the Annapolis Anglers Club for the non-profit, which is dedicated to research on and family support for victims of neuroblastoma—a rare and deadly pediatric cancer.
Awards for the tournament and the AAC annual holiday event are scheduled for 1-4 PM on Saturday, Dec. 16th at Café Mezzanotte in Severna Park, MD. The top 3 anglers will receive trophies, and thanks to local businesses such as AllTackle and Marty’s Bait & Tackle, Sheehy Toyota of Laurel, Smoove Products, Universal Marine, Kramon & Graham, and others, participants will be awarded gift certificates and other valuable prizes.
