ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Alia Schenck is Master level social worker, former clinician, and an Air Force veteran who started her clinical journey in su***de prevention and military sexual trauma therapy. She now works for Summit Behavioral Health as a Tactical Recovery Services Coordinator ensuring that veterans and VA partners have access to the resources in their moment of crisis.

She is a keynote speaker for su***de prevention, surviving generational and military trauma, and building generational wealth. She resides in North Carolina with her two boys and her husband.

SUMMARY
This course examines ethical clinical practice with Veterans, active service members, and first responders, with a focus on balancing competing ethical priorities in complex cases involving trauma, substance use, su***de
risk, family systems, and legal or duty-to-warn issues.

Participants will also learn to recognize scope-of-practice limits, maintain professional boundaries,respond effectively to resistance and crisis, and examine how personal values, culture, assumptions, and bias can shape clinical judgment and ethical decision-making.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Participants will:
Examine hierarchy of ethical values in the professional settings and navigate complex situations with patients and legal challenges.
Explore individual ethical values, across multidisciplinary teams & dual agency roles. Recognize scope of limitations, boundaries, & respond more confidently to client challenges. Become more self-aware of how personal values and bias impact professional decision-making.
