Yesterday morning, I joined Arundel Community Development Services, Inc. - ACDS to announce that 69 local nonprofit organizations received a combined total of $2 million in funding through the Anne Arundel County Community Support Grant (CSG) Program.

Funded within the County’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget, these competitive awards provide support to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations serving critical needs throughout the region.

We grew this program to the $2 million level during COVID because our community-based nonprofit organizations deliver essential services to our residents efficiently and effectively. ACDS and our interagency review committee have done an outstanding job of selecting grantees and monitoring their performance. I hope that this program continues in the future.

This morning I joined Arundel Community Development Services, Inc. - ACDS, Julie Hummer, County Councilwoman District 4, The Maryland Jockey Club, and community leaders to celebrate the distribution of $317,190 in community grants to 12 local organizations.

The funds, awarded through the Laurel Race Course Impact Fund (LRCIF) for Fiscal Year 2027 are administered by ACDS, and are strictly designated to support vital community initiatives within human services, education, and community beautification.

Investing in the neighborhoods and organizations that surround Laurel Park strengthens our entire county. The Advisory Committee and ACDS did an outstanding job of selecting local nonprofits that effectively improve the quality of life for local residents. These are great organizations, and I want to thank them for their work on behalf of our residents.

It was great to be part of the Ribbon Cutting celebration for the new Willows development on Forest Drive in Annapolis. Thanks to a $1.2 million loan from Anne Arundel County/ACDS and funding from many other partners, the project is able to offer deeply affordable housing serving households at 20%, 30% and 50% of area median income.
