Welcome to our latest newsletter! In this edition, we celebrate Black History Month with a series of videos focusing on some of the “Lesser-Known Heroes” who have contributed to our nation’s history, as well as our Community Action Staffers participating in Maryland Community Action Partnership’s (MCAP) Advocacy Day at our state Capitol in January. We also highlight a visit to the Community Action Agency by Maryland’s most senior Democrat in the House of Representatives, Congressman Steny Hoyer.

Turnaround Thursday is a movement designed to strengthen the workforce, develop community leaders, and reduce poverty while focusing on families. “The Session” will be featured every Thursday, with the opportunity for an orientation and essential skills training. The goal is to offer each participant a life-changing experience, tools to provide community leadership, and employment opportunities with a livable wage. Collaborating with our U.S. and State Congressional leaders is essential to strengthening community support and advancing our mission. We sincerely appreciate his visit and his commitment to learning more about the vital services we provide to the residents of Anne Arundel County.
