As this cohort comes to a close, we celebrate Christopher Bull, Joy Cortina, Wyatt Davis, Joshua Nevid, Olumide Owolabi, Todd Payne, Kelly Riling, Tim Stewart, and Samantha Zarnes for their dedication to becoming more intentional, effective, and virtuous leaders.

Over the past several months, these fellows have engaged in meaningful conversations, challenged themselves to grow, and built connections that will continue long after the program ends.

A special thank you to our mentors —Barb Bell, Laura Buckley, Eileen Dowd, David Driftmier, Jamey Hein, Jim McNeal, Steve Moffitt, Colin Pascal, and Michael Styskal — for sharing your experience, perspective, and encouragement throughout the journey.

We are also deeply appreciative of our program manager, Art Gibb, whose leadership and support helped create an exceptional experience for this cohort.

While the program may be ending, the work of leadership continues. We look forward to seeing how these fellows apply what they’ve learned to serve their teams, organizations, and communities.

In this month’s Mentor Moment, Bruce Engelhardt explores one of leadership’s most misunderstood challenges: micromanagement.

Holding people accountable is not the same as controlling every detail. Strong leaders delegate clearly, establish expectations, create checkpoints, and stay engaged without taking over.

When accountability is missing, standards slip. When trust is missing, teams feel controlled. Effective leadership requires both empowerment and follow-through.

As mentors, we can help our mentees think critically about delegation, communication, accountability, and what healthy leadership oversight really looks like.
