ANNA MARIA ISLAND PRESERVATION TRUST was established in the mid nineties and ran for over 10 years before tourism and developers encouraged its
Discontinuation. I tried folks!!! Sissy Quinn

Sorry, AMIPT was discontinued after a 10 year attempt to bring interest to its history and preservation. Morepeople wanted to be in the tourist business, razzing their cottages to build large multi person dwellings to maximise their incomes. Sissy Quinn

Well, it’s finally happening, the New Historic Anna Maria city Pier has begun its rebuild this past week. I have been waiting with baited breath for this, and took this picture to prove it!
I will be keeping you all posted as often as possible from now on. Don’t forget our “Go Fund Me” page. Go there and search for Anna Maria City Pier. Your donation will be doubled by our Tourist Development Council AND qualify for a tax deduction this year. BE A PART OF THIS WONDERFUL
EVENT, and watch it happen at AMI Preservation Trust!

Things have been quiet on my "Go Fund Me" (GFM) page to support the restoration of the Anna Maria City Pier. The tourists have left, and the damaged pier is "just for the birds" as we speak, with no action since Hurricane Irma swept through in September, 2017.

After acquiring all the permits, the Mayor released information this week, that plank removal will commence in early June, and complete demolition, thereafter.

THE BEST NEWS IS, THEY ARE EXPECTING COMPLETION BY DECEMBER 2019!

You can support this cause by going to GFM and search for Anna Maria City Pier and find out how you can make a tax-deductible donatition while making it double through
a matching grant!!!

It took three days to move the "Anglers Lodge" aka "Thelma by the Sea" originally a small cottage built in 1913, to the Anna Maria Island Historic Green Villiage. It was placed to the right and rear of "Cozy Corner" the home of developer "Will" Bean built in 1913 as well. It was at that time that it was noted that both houses were built of the same "rusticated block" and had the same original floor plan. Because of the similarities of the dates and materials, it is believed the contractor was Mitch Davis who built the Roser Memorial Church around the same year which is located across the street.

SueLynn, Secretary Treasurer of the Anna Maria Island Preservation Trust (AMIPT) is showing off the Florida State Marker purchased by AMIPT and donated to The City of Anna Maria for the City Pier Centennial on May 14, 2011. The marker was up for two days and had to be put safely away for construction to the foot of the pier after the Centennial. It will be rededicated to its permanent site later this summer and I will update this information to all of you.
