“We have been so grateful for the support of the Dexter Community Foundation which absolutely has made an impact. Your grant allowed us to buy grocery and gas gift cards which were provided to survivors in crisis around the Christmas holiday. These cards provide flexible, confidential help that honors dignity and promotes autonomy. They also reduce barriers to safety, employment, court access, and mental health care all of which are key steps in a survivor’s healing and long-term stability.”

The mission of Safehouse Center is to empower survivors of both sexual and intimate partner violence by providing advocacy, support, and promoting social change within the community. All their services are free, confidential, and available to survivors who live, work or were victimized in Washtenaw County.

“We’re happy to share that the Dexter Community Fund grant is being put to great use. With support from this funding, we’ve delivered 50 meals each month to the Dexter Senior Center and Faith in Action for a total of 200 meals so far this grant period.” 👏👏👏

Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County is a private non-profit social services agency community founded in 1993. Originally established by the Jewish Federation of Washtenaw County to assist the growing number of refugee families in Ann Arbor from the former Soviet Republics, JFS has since grown into an organization providing programs and services ranging from older adult caregiving to resettlement and career services and more.

Many Hands Lifesharing Community, a nonprofit, is planning to transform nearly 90 acres in Scio Township into a “campus” of cooperative residential homes. This project will create gardening and nature-based activities that connect individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and local community members of all ages.

What if a small investment today could support our community for generations? 💙

In 2017, the Dexter Community Fund awarded $2,153 in grants.
In 2025, that number has grown to $24,000 — supporting nonprofits, community initiatives, and ideas that improve life across the Dexter Area (as defined by the boundaries of the Dexter Community School District).

Even more exciting: the Fund has now grown to over $1.16 million, creating a permanent source of support for our community.

This growth is only possible because people here believe in investing in Dexter’s future.

What is community pride?
Dexter population: ~4500 :: Dexter fans at Ford Field: 11k!

Although the final score wasn't what we had hoped for...you cannot deny the level of PRIDE in this community - something a scoreboard cannot define.

It was impressive. Dreadnaught fans represented with a massive turnout at Ford Field.
