On August 20th, 2026, the Covergirl Chapter was proud to participate in the 8th Annual Back to School Empowerment Event in Detroit. 📚

Held in support of local youth and families, the event brought the community together to help students prepare for the upcoming school year. The Covergirls provided free hair braiding, distributed backpacks to children in the community, and assisted with organizing and cleaning up throughout the event. 🎒✨

Through service, sisterhood, and community engagement, we are proud to continue pouring into the next generation and making a positive impact in Detroit. 💛💙

Today, Soror Daniels and Soror Piner had the opportunity to return to their alma mater, Cass Technical High School, for Senior Signing Day 💙💛✨

From speaking with students about their college journeys and life after high school to performing a stroll in celebration of the graduating seniors, this visit was all about pouring back into the next generation.

Being able to come back and inspire students walking the same halls they once did is what service and sisterhood are all about. We are proud to continue uplifting our community through mentorship, encouragement, and leadership. 🎓

Basileus Chatman and Soror Ayers had the opportunity to welcome the Rhoers of the Zeta Kappa Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to the University of Michigan, sharing insight into life as a Wolverine, encouragement to continue pursuing higher education with excellence, and genuine love and support. From walking through campus to sharing laughs and building connections, this experience was a true reflection of the power of our sisterhood and the affiliates we cherish so deeply. ✨

This past Monday at the 2026 U-M Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards, we were selected across all four councils as recipients of two awards. These honors reflect our intentionality, commitment to scholarship, and lasting community impact:
🏆 Academic Programming and Scholarship Award for Black Male Highlight
📚 Community Service Award

Within NPHC, our members continue to lead with excellence and distinction as we received 3 additional awards:
👑 Basileus Chatman received a commendation for Prophyte of the Year
🌟 Soror Jones received a commendation for Neophyte of the Year
⭐ Soror Piner was recognized with the NPHC Emerging Leaders Award

We are incredibly proud of the legacy we continue to build across campus and within our council. The work speaks for itself, and we will continue to pursue excellence as we move forward.

The Covergirls would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate Charter Week with us 💙💛 Your support truly meant so much and made the entire week unforgettable.

From Hustling with the Poodles, where we learned new moves, to Say It With Your Chest and its real, engaging conversations, to all the laughs at Pie a Poodle, and ending with pancakes, dancing, and good vibes at Midnight Breakfast, every moment was one to remember.
