Mental health is for everyone.

It touches every community, every family, and people from every walk of life. That's why creating a future free from stigma and expanding access to effective, evidence-based mental health care matters to all of us.

At NNDC, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live well. Through collaboration, research, innovation, and education, we're working to improve care, advance treatment, and transform lives.

Because mental health isn't just personal—it's a public health priority.

Men’s Mental Health Month is an important reminder that seeking help is a sign of strength. For generations, men have been encouraged to “tough it out,” leading many to keep their struggles internalized.

Untreated mental health concerns can contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, sleep issues, and physical health problems.

This month, we’re sharing a resource from Cleveland Clinic — an NNDC member site — offering “11 Tips for Men to Take Care of Their Mental Health.”

The NNDC Travel Award helps support early-career researchers and clinicians as they connect, learn, and share their work with the broader scientific community.

At the 2026 ACNP meeting, NNDC member Marzieh Majd, PharmD, PhD, had the opportunity to attend scientific sessions, engage with peers and established investigators, and present the NNDC advocacy poster focused on improving evidence-based care for individuals with depression and bipolar disorder.

Her experience highlights the importance of collaboration, mentorship, and translating research into meaningful clinical impact.

Congratulations, Dr. Majd, and thank you for sharing your experience!

Spending time outdoors doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. Even a few intentional minutes in nature can help us slow down, reconnect with our senses, and support mental well-being.

From noticing the sounds around you to finding awe in the trees, birds, sky, or garden outside your door, nature offers simple ways to feel more grounded and connected.

How do you like to connect with nature?

LGBTQ+ communities deserve affirming, accessible, and compassionate mental health support.

Higher rates of depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and suicidal thoughts or behaviors are not caused by identity itself, but are often connected to stigma, discrimination, bullying, and barriers to affirming care.

This Pride Month and beyond, we can all play a role in supporting LGBTQ+ mental health by using chosen names and pronouns, standing up against discrimination, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, and helping create safe, welcoming spaces.

PTSD is often associated with military service, but trauma can affect anyone.
Traumatic experiences can include violence, abuse, accidents, natural disasters, life-threatening events, or witnessing harm happen to others.

Recognizing that PTSD is not limited to veterans can help reduce stigma and encourage more people to seek support sooner.
