Last week, GLOS Strategic Initiatives Manager Katie Rousseau attended the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network Conference in Oswego, New York. The conference provided an interactive session in which GLOS and other Great Lakes NOAA partners were able to meet with various Sea Grant network staff and learn about shared priorities.

Katie presented information on the seagull.glos.org platform in another interactive session called "Tech to Teach: Virtual Tools for Great Lakes Community Outreach."

Thank you to Kat Cameron, Great Lakes Sea Grant Liaison, for the invitation and photos. It was great to learn more about the breadth of Great Lakes Sea Grant activities and meet familiar faces in person.

We hope you all enjoy a safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend!

If you are heading to any of the big lakes make sure to check conditions before getting in the water. All of the lakes look to be pretty cold still, and passing storms may lead to some moderate risk wind/wave activity.

The Green Bay buoy is in the water!
Last week, Connor Brooks, GLOS’ Observing Data Specialist, joined UWM School of Freshwater Sciences Jessie Grow and co. aboard the Neeskay to deploy the Green Bay buoy (45014) for its seasonal deployment.

At its site in central Green Bay, 20 miles west of Sturgeon Bay, the buoy will record real-time weather, wave, and water quality data, as well as snapshots by an onboard we**am.

The crew enjoyed an exceptionally nice weather day with calm waters to efficiently deploy the station and its accompanying hazard buoys. Once an onboard power issue is sorted out, live data and images will be available to view on Seagull: https://seagull.glos.org/data-console/43
