Washtenaw County 4-H is looking to improve our 4-H County Awards and Recognition Program and need your ideas to help us start the process. 4-H'ers can also put their contact information if they are interested in working on this process with our 4-H staff.

Congratulations to all of our Washtenaw County 4-H volunteers and alumni who were recognized at the Legacy Awards on October 3rd! 🍀

The following Washtenaw County 4-H folks were recognized:

✨Washtenaw County 4-H Volunteer Jean Martin of Country Expressions 4-H Club received the 2026 Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer Award
✨Washtenaw County 4-H Volunteer Erica Drake of Country Expressions 4-H Club received the Michigan Farm Bureau 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Award
✨Washtenaw County 4-H alum William Rogers of Saline 4-H Farmers received the 4-H MSU Scholarship
✨Washtenaw County 4-H alumnus Emma J. Young, of Detroit, was among nine 4-H alumni inducted into the 2026 class of the Michigan 4-H Emerald Clover Society.

Do you know someone from Washtenaw County 4-H you can nominate? Keep in mind County 4-H staff must send a letter so we need to know before the deadline.

Can you think of someone who displayed extraordinary sportsmanship at a recent 4-H animal science program? Perhaps at a club meeting, clinic, or the county fair? Nominate them for the 2026 Michigan 4-H Animal Science Sportsperson of the Year Award!

This annual award recognizes one youth member and one adult 4-H leader who exemplify the definition of sportsmanship and have gone above and beyond to lend a helping hand to those around them during animal science programs. We are kicking off National 4-H Week! 🍀

From fairgrounds to classrooms, community gardens to robotics labs, 4-H youth in Washtenaw County are proving they’re not just ready for the future – they’re Beyond Ready. During National 4-H Week, celebrated Oct. 4–10, 2026, we encourage our local clubs, alumni, and supporters to share how 4-H equips young people with the skills, confidence, and resilience to lead in a world full of opportunity and change.

Attention 4-H volunteers and teen leaders!

Share your passion and skills with 4-H volunteers, teen leaders, and youth members throughout the state! We are seeking workshop leaders to teach a session at the 4-H Spark and Share Summit in Frankenmuth on March 13, 2027.

Previous surveys indicated high interest in learning more about the following topics: Hands-on make and take crafts/projects, Livestock and Animal Science (Marketing Your Animal, Biosecurity), Ag in the Classroom, STEM, Civic Engagement, Gardening, Successful Fundraising, Club Financial Management, Club Year planning, and Club Engagement.
