Association for India's Development is a volunteer movement promoting sustainable, equitable and just Since then, it has grown to over 40 chapters in the U.S.

AID supports grassroots organizations in India and initiates efforts in various interconnected spheres such as education, livelihoods, natural resources including land, water and energy, agriculture, health, women's empowerment and social justice. AID was founded in 1991 by a small group of graduate physics students and their professor in College Park, Maryland. and several overseas. From a sma

ll group of students in College Park, AID now has over 2000 members and over 300 active volunteers all over the world. The Ann Arbor chapter of AID was established in 1997 and is comprised of undergraduates, graduates, and professionals. We are currently a team 15 active volunteers involved in project coordination, fund-raising and raising AID's visibility in general.

The Sunderban region in lower Bengal coast was hit with an extremely severe cyclone Amphan on May 20, 2020, resulting in breaching of embankments and widespread flooding. Sundarbans, the world’s largest active delta, is home to more than 5 million people (in India), many of whom are subsistence farmers and fisherfolk.

AID started working intensively with farmers in the region in 2009 after Cyclone Aila devastated Sunderbans exactly 11 years ago. We need your support to stand by the people of Sunderbans, who are already dealing with loss of income due to the COVID related lockdown.
