🎞️Did you see? The Rotary Club of Ann Arbor was featured on the marquee of the Michigan Theater!
We were honored as a sponsor of the debut film “The Coalition,” screened as a part of the University of Michigan Climate Week 2026 events.
In addition to the film, there was a panel discussion with audience interaction, theater pipe organ performance, as well as informational tables in the theater lobby.
Thanks again to member Dennis Burke and the environmental action committee for presenting this opportunity and working so hard to see it come to fruition.

On Sept. 22, we gathered together with the U of M Rotaract Club to dedicate a new Peace Pole, located in the serene setting of the W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden in the Nichols Arboretum. This project was brought about through the efforts of our college-age Rotaract members, the members of our Anti-Racism and Peace Committees, and UofM administrative staff over the last year.
Club member Norma Sarkar offered these words:
"I would like to congratulate all those who contributed to this local action to build peace in our community."
"Peace Poles were the creation of May Peace Prevail on Earth International. The movement had its beginnings in Japan about 50 years ago.
Peace Poles are now the move recognized monument dedicated to peace on earth. They represent the highest aspirations of peace and goodwill inherent in the human heart, transcending race, religion and creed.
Peace Poles serve as vehicles to carry the message 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' out to every corner on earth. They are planted to uplift, empower, and elevate the human consciousness to embrace the oneness of our global family.
Thank you to all who made this possible and may this Peace Pole inspire all who see it to embrace Peace."

Our Club was proud to be a sponsor of the annual Embracing Our Differences public art exhibit at Gallup Park. Our members and guests were treated to a docent-lead tour this past Friday, where we learned about the various artists’ interpretations of the theme.
