Hello everyone,

We’ve had such a successful year this far, with our first annual charity basketball tournament for House N 2 Home, our annual Eating with ASA Event, and most recently we just hosted our 23rd Annual Culture Show. All of this isn’t possible without the support from our community, and we hope in the future to now only continue these events and serve our community but find ways to improve our organization and outreach efforts. With today being U-M annual Giving Blue Day, we hope that you consider donating a gift to the African Students Association today!

Founded in 1996, the African Students Association at the University of Michigan strives to create a comfortable atmosphere where those interested in learning about the continent and issues and experiences of Africans can meet and converse. ASA also serves as a cultural group that is intended to port...

We would like to wish you all a happy Juneteenth! Today marks 155 years since June 19, 1865 when the slaves of Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom, 2 1/2 years since the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Today we celebrate black excellence! To commemorate Juneteenth we have compiled a list of books/films that help us reflect on the history of today.

The ASA Executive Board would like to thank every single one of you that donated or shared our campaign yesterday! This was our first year participating in Giving Blue Day, so we set a goal of $500. In 24 hours, we surpassed our goal and received over $1,370!!! This will help us plan our 22nd Annual Culture Show. We would like to extend a warm invitation to our show next year. We look forward to sharing our organization’s success with you in the months to come!

Just under an hour to go! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! We truly appreciate it!

is finally here! Your generosity will enable the African Student Association (ASA) to have our 22nd Annual Culture Show! Since its founding in 1996, the African Student Association has planned, applied for grants, and executed 21 Culture Shows. These shows have showcased the rich diversity and the artistic contributions members of the continent and its diaspora have provided to the world. Our reach is widespread, ranging from undergraduate to graduate student members, collaborating with other cultural organizations on campus, and hosting our first annual Charity Ball in December 2018. Your generous gift will allow us to continue funding these opportunities and more!
