Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based out of Torrance, California, United States, and Seoul, South Korea. The Link at Umich chapter was founded in 2009 and has been growing ever since. Our organization rescues North Korean refugees hiding in China and resettles them in South Korea or the United States, so that they can avoid being forcibly repatriated back to No

rth Korea. The refugees first travel from China to Southeast Asia through what the organization calls a modern-day "Underground Railroad", where they can then be processed and travel to South Korea (or occasionally, the United States) where they are recognized as refugees. From there, LiNK helps the refugees through its resettlement programs. Each rescue costs approximately $3,000 USD, and includes $500 for resettlement programs. As of October 2017, LiNK has resettled 700 refugees throughout the U.S. For this year, LiNK at UMich would like to raise $6,000 to rescue two refugees- double our efforts from last year. Hi everyone~ LINK will be hosting a Spring Formal in collaboration with KSEA and KLG! The Spring Formal will be hosted on April 1st, from 7-9PM, @ the Michigan League Vandenberg Room. Dinner and light refreshments will be provided, along with a musical guest performance and social activities. The dress code is formal/semi-formal.

Through this event, the collaborating organizations are seeking to create meaningful connections across the Korean and Korean-American campus community and celebrate these host organizations for their contributions to U-M.

Ticket sales are OPEN now! 20% of the tickets will go to rescuing and rehabilitating North Korean refugees~

From 3/19 - 3/25, tickets are $10.00 per person. If you are bringing a guest, please pay $20.00. Upon filling out the form please Venmo the appropriate amount with the note "Spring Formal."

Liberty in North Korea is a nonprofit organization that aims to raise funds for North Korean refugees in order to aid in their relocation process. Moreover, LiNK focuses on changing the narrative of North Korea within global politics in order to raise awareness in a more accurate and effective way.
