International House Ann Arbor International House Ann Arbor (IHAA) welcomes international students and scholars worldwide.

Our resident and educational programs, events and activities deepen respect for differences and affirm identities among students and scholars from different cultures who make IHAA their home away from home every year. We are conveniently located adjacent to University of Michigan’s central campus and a short walk from downtown Ann Arbor.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at International House! 🦃🍂

Last Thursday, November 21, we kicked off the holiday early with a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration filled with food, laughter, and the spirit of community. It was a joy to come together and reflect on what we’re grateful for as an international family.

A special congratulations again to Lily Lee, our 2024 IHAA Volunteer of the Year! 🌟 Your dedication and hard work have made such a positive impact on our community. Thank you for everything you do to bring people together and make International House a true home for all.

Join us on December 3rd for a global day of giving as we strive to ensure that every student at the International House Ann Arbor (IHAA) can fully participate in our vibrant, intercultural community—no matter their financial circumstances. 🌏💙
IHAA is more than just a place to live. With residents from over 30 countries, we foster connections, cultural understanding, and friendships that last a lifetime. But for some of our residents, the cost of housing can be a barrier to this enriching experience. Each year, 10% of our residents face challenges in paying their rent. That’s why we’ve established our Rent Assistance Program, dedicated to reducing housing costs for residents in need.
Your support on can make a real difference. Just a small contribution can help a student or scholar stay at IHAA, freeing them to focus on their studies and the connections they’re building.

🎉 Celebrating Diwali at IHAA! 🎉

Our residents lit up the night with a vibrant Diwali celebration filled with presentations about the festival’s meaning, intricate henna designs, traditional art on coasters, sparklers, and, of course, delicious homemade food! ✨ It was a beautiful evening of cultural sharing and community.

A huge thank you to Bombay Grocers for their generous donation, which allowed our event organizers to bring the flavors of tradition to our diverse IHAA community!

Our Story

The International House Ann Arbor (IHAA) is an intentional living-learning community for students and visiting scholars from around the world. IHAA seeks to be a community of friendship and respect in which persons from many different countries, cultures, religions, political perspectives, and vocational interests may learn from one another through social interaction and educational programming. IHAA is a home-away-from-home for students from nearly 60 different countries, including the U.S., each year, as well as a program of hospitality, global understanding, justice, and peacemaking. Our programs reach out to university students in the greater Ann Arbor community and also provide opportunities for congregations, organizations, and individuals through SE Michigan.
