On the 17th of this month, United Way celebrated me and Mentor2Youth. As we begin to wind down on Black History Month, it is a heartfelt remembrance of what started over 60 years ago. On 2/1/1960, marks the day when a group of young visionaries envisioned a future better than what they saw. A future that entailed not only equality but equity, justice, and fairness for all. The Greensboro Four were four young Black men who staged the first sit-in at Greensboro: Ezell Blair Jr., David Richmond, Franklin McCain, and Joseph McNeil. Today we celebrate those young visionaries who sat in a Woolworth store in North Carolina to be a change agent and raise the standards for all American Citizens. A simple sit-in, a simple act of courage made a rippling effect in our society. Mentor 2 Youth’s mission is to nurture the future young visionaries who will stand in the gap and raise the next set of standards for continued equality and equity for all. When you support Mentor 2 Youth, you partner with an organization whose tireless and unwavering in bringing out the best in our youth!
