The person who despises you is ultimately someone Christ wants to rescue.

The activist who mocks Jesus Christ is someone Christ wants to redeem.

The politician who pushes for some of the most murderous policies you've ever heard is a soul Christ died for and wants to save.

The family member who stands against our faith is someone who still bears the Divine Image.

We all experience Stockholm Syndrome in our spiritual lives, for we all have attachments to sins we have not yet relinquished. Sin diminishes the good of human nature. Sin diminishes the capacity of the intellect and the will to think about God lovingly. And Jesus is the remedy.

Jesus wasn't disrespecting his mother at the wedding in Cana. Mary expresses great faith in taking the initiative to ask for this miracle, and humbly submits herself to Christ's authority in saying, "Do whatever he tells you."

Believing in God isn’t the same as knowing Him.

You can believe God exists and still keep Him at a distance.

Knowing God means relationship. It means prayer when no one is watching, trusting Him when life doesn’t make sense, and allowing Him to change the parts of you that you’d rather keep untouched.

Faith isn’t just knowing facts about Jesus.

It’s knowing Jesus.

So ask yourself: Do you simply believe in God, or are you actually getting to know Him?
