The Joyce Ivy Foundation was established to assist young women in their pursuit of higher education. As a non-profit organization, the Joyce Ivy Foundation is dedicated to the academic advancement of young women in the Midwest by providing exposure, encouragement, counsel, financial assistance, and employment support to young women who have the potential to attend – or do attend – highly selective
colleges and universities. The Summer Scholars program provides accomplished rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with scholarships to attend pre-college summer academic programs at Barnard, Brown, Cornell, Emory, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Smith, Stanford, Yale, or Wash U. The experience:
• Builds academic and social confidence
• Encourages in-depth exploration of areas of potential study
• Provides information about admissions and financial aid
• Grants college credit, if awarded by the summer program
The Foundation also offers an annual College Admissions Symposium for students, counselors, and educators, and regularly conducts surveys and issues reports on the state of college counseling in the Midwest. The Foundation also names a Leader of the Year, who is honored at the annual Summer Scholars Gala.
