Out in Public (FSPP) Out in Public is a student organization at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy dedicated to addressing policy issues affecting LGBTQ communities.

Ford School of Public Policy interested in LGBTQ policy issues. Students, degree candidates, and faculty/staff of all identities (LBGTQ and ally) are welcome to engage with us.

Out in Public at the Ford School is doing a gift drive for Ozone House, to get gifts to young adults who do not have significant support or family - and most likely will not receive a gift this year.

Here is the Holiday Gift Sign-Up for Ozone House where anyone can sign up for an item(s) to buy! Just sign up for an item or two and I will be in touch! Feel free to reach out at 231-735-3477.

Hello friends! We are very excited about tomorrow night, and so excited to see you all there! A few quick reminders:

1.) Doors open at 6:30 pm and the event starts at 7pm - We highly encourage you to come as early as you can to secure a seat.

2.) We will have light appetizers to go around

3.) If you are still considering on whether or not you would like to share, we have about 2 spots we can fit in! We will be closing the registration for speakers at 5 pm tomorrow. Please feel free to sign up until then!

With hashtags like and images of hearts and rainbows, tens of thousands of Chinese residents took to social media over the weekend to protest efforts to censor gay-themed images, videos and cartoons.

Activists said the social media site’s vow to delete posts with gay themes was the latest sign of discrimination in the country.

Naomi Goldberg directs MAP’s policy work and movement capacity research. Based in Ann Arbor, Naomi’s work at MAP has focused on the challenges facing LGBT families and workers; issues of economic security for LGBT people; and most recently on LGBT people’s interactions with the criminal justice system. In all these efforts, Naomi has co-authored a series of reports and partnered with leading progressive organizations to increase the visibility of LGBT people and issues within progressive movements and to highlight the need for progressive policy change to advance LGBT equality. Prior to joining MAP, Naomi completed a public policy fellowship at the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. She received her master of public policy from the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy and graduated from Mount Holyoke College.

Leo Kattari, MSW (he, him, his) has over a decade of experience using an equity and justice lens in the areas of health education, community mobilization and organizing, policy and community advocacy, and data and evaluation. He has provided presentations, trainings, and consulting services on health equity and cultural responsiveness to organizations and agencies throughout the U.S., such as the Mayo Clinic, the Texas Department of State Health Services, and the U.S. Department of Human Service’s Office of Adolescent Health. Leo’s work continues to focus on transgender equity, LGBTQ health, social identity development, health literacy, health care rights and advocacy, and advocacy through story-telling.

Kerene Moore is currently a supervising attorney for Legal Services of South Central Michigan, a division of the Michigan Advocacy Program. She has represented underserved Michigan residents in civil legal matters for the past ten years. Kerene graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degree, and was honored as a Deans Public Service Fellow.
