Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor

CSC uplifts and strengthens people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Education.

So everyone impacted by cancer receives the support they want and need at every phase of their experience. The Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor (formerly The Wellness Community of Southeast Michigan) provides free support, education and hope to all people touched by cancer. The Cancer Support Community (CSC) offers people a "home away from home" in a comfortable setting, and a chance

to connect with others who are dealing with similar cancer issues. All programs and activities offered at the center are free of charge, and include:

Support. Support groups are available for cancer survivors and their loved ones. All are professionally facilitated, and offer the opportunity to connect and learn from one another. Healthy Lifestyle. Stress management classes such as meditation, and exercise classes like yoga and tai chi can encourage relaxation and improved health. These classes meet weekly. Cooking classes teach nutritional information of benefit to people with cancer, while experimenting with new recipes. Workshops led by experts on a variety of topics provide opportunities to acquire tools, information about cancer, along with techniques to learn how to be an active participant in your cancer journey. Social Support. Social gatherings open to survivors and their loved ones offer a chance to enjoy camaraderie and friendship. We provide the space, you provide the conversation! Resource Referral. CSC maintains a library of information as well as help connecting with the resources you need.

In observance of Juneteenth, Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history.

We will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 20. Wishing everyone a meaningful day of reflection, celebration, and community.

What an incredible Cancer Survivors Day! 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us on June 7th in celebrating the strength, resilience, and hope of our cancer community. With over 300 registrations, 19 wonderful vendors, 25 generous raffle item donors, dedicated volunteers, and countless supporters, this day was truly special.

Together, we honored survivors, supported caregivers, remembered loved ones, and celebrated every season of the survivorship journey. The connections, smiles, stories, and moments shared throughout the day are a powerful reminder that no one should face cancer alone.

Thank you to our speakers, Dr. Ulka Vaishampayan and Debra Mattison, for your moving speeches. Also, Bobak Bakhtiari for filling us with joy with Laughter Yoga.

To our attendees, vendors, donors, volunteers, and community partners—thank you for helping create a day filled with hope, healing, and connection. We are so grateful for your support and for being part of the Cancer Support Community family.

Join the Ulman Foundation TOMORROW for the start of the Cancer to 5K. Cancer to 5K provides a community of support for cancer survivors through a free 12-week training program. The team will practice twice a week, one weekday and one weekend day, for 12 weeks.

Regardless of age, treatment status, or physical ability, survivor participants run/walk alongside coaches & volunteer teammates with the ultimate goal of completing a 5K goal race. While everyone’s cancer journey is different, many individuals can benefit from a weekly exercise routine.

For the past three years, Reiki has been an important part of our healthy lifestyle offerings, providing moments of relaxation and comfort for individuals impacted by cancer.

We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated Reiki practitioners, Deanna, Dona, Katie, Annie, and Ara, who have generously shared their time, compassion, and expertise with our community. Their commitment has helped create a welcoming space where members can find peace, reduce stress, and focus on their wellbeing.
