Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation Since 1963, $80M+ million in grants and scholarships that have helped change thousands of lives. AAACF works to enrich the quality of life in Washtenaw County.

We award more than $9 million in grants and scholarships each year that make a difference in thousands of lives. We connect people who care about our community to the causes that matter. More than 1,500 donors support our work each year. We bring together community leaders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to create lasting change for our community. We build endowment - a source of permanent community capital that will always be available to invest in our community's well-being.

What happens when a community comes together to dream, build, and create something special for its children? A whole lot of KABOOM!

AAACF was proud to partner with the City of Manchester, KABOOM!, and the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation to bring a new community playspace to life. From children sharing their dream playground ideas to volunteers rolling up their sleeves on build days, this project was powered by community.

We’re proud to share that AAACF has been named a Childcare Champion of Michigan! This special recognition celebrates the important work being done to support children, families, and early childhood professionals across our communities.

A heartfelt thank-you to Childcare Network for nominating AAACF for this award, and to Pulse at the W.E. Upjohn Institute Pulse at the W.E. Upjohn Institute, Early Childhood Investment Corporation, and Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential and MiLEAP for recognizing our commitment to early childhood and childcare. We’re grateful to be part of a network of partners working to strengthen opportunities for children and families in Washtenaw County.

📣 Washtenaw County High School Students: We want to hear from you!

The 2026 AAACF Youth Needs Assessment closes this Friday, October 9. High school-age students across the county - especially those in our rural communities such as Dexter, Milan, and Manchester - are encouraged to share their experiences, priorities, and needs.

Designed by youth, for youth, the assessment helps AAACF’s Youth Council better understand what matters to young people and informs future funding for youth programs and services throughout Washtenaw County.
