There seems to be some confusion when we post dogs as looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home, so I wanted to help clarify a little. 🐶

When a dog is listed as “foster” or “foster-to-adopt,” that means the dog is not officially in our rescue yet and needs a foster home in order to come into rescue.

We offer foster-to-adopt because it helps us save more animals while also giving potential adopters a chance to better understand how rescue works. It allows the family time to get to know the dog and decide whether the dog is truly a good fit for their home, lifestyle, and family before making a permanent commitment.

During the foster-to-adopt period, the dog remains under the rescue while we complete all necessary vetting through one of our approved veterinarians. Once the dog is fully vetted and cleared for adoption, the foster family can officially adopt.

If the family decides the dog is not the right fit, that’s okay too! The dog will then be placed up for adoption so we can find the best possible forever home.

Our goal is always what’s best for the dogs while helping as many as we can. ❤️

Hope this helps clarify!

Attention Beagle Lovers!!

Meet Bowie! He is a 15 yr old sweet beagle. He has had the same owner and he can no longer stay with his family because of his mom’s medical problems.

He has all his shots, fixed, likes dogs and kids and we are not sure about cats.

I spent some time with him today and he has all the old man lumps and bumps but he still has lots of love to give.

We have called rescues and we waiting for a response but I would rather he went to home that will love him for the remainder of his life.

Bowie will be at our car show tomorrow if anyone wants to meet this sweet old man. He is so confused about why he is there and where his mommy is.

Please consider adopting Bowie! Your life will most definitely be better with him around.

If we not find a home him a home I will be fostering him so he will not have to stay at the shelter. I lost two elderly dogs this year and would never want that for them. Unfortunately I work 6-7 days a week and long hours so this will only be a temporary placement for Bowie.

Please help me find Bowie a home.

We will be posting throughout the week as a reminder for the garage sale as well as the location! I don’t know about you, but I love a garage sale

An email plea for help for a sweet 3 year old black and tan named Mable

I need help re-homing a 3 year old, 50 lb black and tan hound dog, named Mable. The young family that currently have it have been living with their mother/grandmother and she is has to move out of her house into a small apartment. The children are going with their mother who is allergic to dogs (or so she says) and the father is moving in with his girlfriend who has a dog that does not get along with other dogs.

The dog, while not physically abused, has basically been ignored. It spends most of its time in a kennel with no real room to move about. No one spends time with this poor dog. She is skittish and I imagine she has some anxiety issues. She is a very sweet dog though and not aggressive, she has also been around a smaller dog and done fine. I feel so very sorry for her. I wish I could take her but we don’t really have a yard for her and already have a senior dog that is deaf and blind and has heart issues. Mabel lives in New Albany, IN which is near Louisville, KY. I would be willing to drive her to a good home.

Is there anything you can do to place her in a new home? I would appreciate any help or even any advice you can give me. They have to vacate the house in the first week of June. I think I could find someone to keep her for a week or two longer than that.
