🔔 NEW TIME: The start time for A2P2’s picnic has been moved to 6PM to accommodate the Washtenaw County Democratic Party meeting, during which a vote will be held to endorse the public power ballot initiative.

Registered dems in Ann Arbor who support public power, your presence is requested! With public power on the ballot this November, this endorsement would be HUGE!

The WCDP meeting is 2-6PM and the picnic event will start afterwards at Burns Park. If you’re free this Saturday, consider attending both to keep the momentum going! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

If you already RSVPed but can no longer attend, please check your email for a time change notification and reply to it so your donation will be refunded.

ANN ARBOR: Request for all registered Democrats who support public power! This endorsement would means a TON for the ballot initiative, but it comes down to a vote among those who attend the WCDP meeting in person on Saturday, August 15, 2-6pm. Deadline to register for the meeting is August 13th!!

This affects the time for A2P2’s scheduled picnic. Stay tuned for details regarding the time change.

Ann Arbor for Public Power has beaten the odds and is ON THE BALLOT this November ⚡️⚡️⚡️

This ballot initiative, if passed, would set up a volunteer-run board to oversee the municipal grid. The board doesn’t have the authority to actually buy the grid (such a decision would need to be put to a vote among Ann Arborites at a later date) but it COULD investigate costs and feasibility associated with such a change.

Imagine a world where power is owned collectively by the people instead of by greedy executives. Ann Arbor is now one step closer!

And with that, A2P2 has closed the chapter of this mad dash for 1500 signatures in two weeks. The city clerk is currently validating signatures!!! 🤞🤗⚡️News will be dropping here and on our email list as soon as a final verdict is reached.

In the meantime, check out Ann Arbor for Public Power’s picnic event on 8/15. Should be an exciting one!

Day 13 dropping a little late but better late than never! Tomorrow morning is the official deadline — it may be a little bit until the final results are in but this account will post updates as soon as possible! Thanks everyone for tuning in, whether you’re a supporter, volunteer or a hater, A2P2 appreciates all the attention and energy you gave to keep volunteers going through this big push to get on November’s ballot. Fingers crossed and see ya tomorrow!
