The Washtenaw Farm Council purchased the Farm Council Grounds in 1955 to provide a place to hold the Washtenaw County 4-H Youth Show each year. Over time many amenities were added, buildings improved, and the Grounds began to be a place to go to hold events. Many of the events have been holding their events at the grounds for many years, reserving their dates each year to insure they were recogniz

ed and could be found each year. The Farm Council is organized as a 501c5 organization and while its mission is “To promote and advance the interest of agriculture, horticulture, household arts and mechanic arts and sciences, and all kindred sciences and arts in their varied branches; to promote and conduct agricultural, industrial, educational and recreational fairs and exhibitions, and to provide entertainment and amusement therewith for the purpose of drawing the attention of the public thereto” it has become the place in Washtenaw County to hold your event. The Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds is the largest Event Center in Washtenaw County with over 55,000 Sq. This Event Center is home to the Washtenaw County 4-H Youth Show, the Home, Garden & Lifestyle Show, The Ann Arbor Antiques Market, The Saline Antiques Market, Braun & Helmer FARM FEST, The Saline Community Fair, Fiber Expo, Huron Gun Collectors Gun Shows, Wedding Receptions, Company Parties and many other events throughout the year. Nearly every weekend there is a variety of events that are open to the public.

We've partnered with MSU Extension and 4-H to celebrate the rich agricultural heritage that has shaped our county, and to bring our urban, suburban, and rural communities together in one place.

3:00–6:00 PM – Hustle line dancing, MSU Extension & 4-H exhibits, face painting, petting zoo, inflatable games, and food vendors (with FREE options!)

9:00 PM – Event Concludes

Job Title: Seasonal Grounds Worker

Location: Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds

Job Type: Part Time 20-30 hours per week

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Grounds Worker to join our team at
Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. As a Grounds Worker, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the fairgrounds. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

Grounds Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as facilities maintenance, event setup/takedown, and changing signage to ensure the fairgrounds are well-maintained and visually appealing.

Trash Removal: Collect and dispose of litter and trash throughout the fairgrounds to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.

Seasonal Preparation: Prepare the fairgrounds for seasonal changes, including winterization and spring activation of the landscape, ensuring a seamless transition between seasons.

Event Support: Provide support during events held at Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, including bathroom maintenance, table setup, coordinating parking, etc.

Project Assistant: Assist managers in ground improvement projects, including planting flowers, painting of buildings, and other projects to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the fairgrounds.

Safety Inspections: Learn to identify and address potential safety hazards.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other grounds workers and event staff to ensure seamless coordination and ex*****on of tasks.

Qualifications:

Good computer skills is preferred
Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and prolonged outdoor activity.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings, especially during Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds events.
