Hello Fellow Local 3760 Members and welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year!
I am Regina Roza, Federation President. I work at the Washtenaw News YA site. I am the Healthcare Rep as well as a Conference Co-Chair. If you have any questions or problems to work through, we have a great team, reach out. If you are at a site with new people, we will have quite a few, please share with them the positive ways your Union has worked for you. I am always here to assist working through any process and happy to help. If you have any questions, comments, concerns or ideas, please feel free to contact me anytime. My personal cell is 734-320-2944 or my personal email is below.
Welcome! My name is Kimberly Minetee and I am the Union Vice-President Representative for Unit I. I’m a TA in the Young Adult Project. My work space is at the KeyBank Young Adult classroom. As one of the Union Representatives that will be in service to you, our priority is to protect your rights and our contract agreement. I’m open to all questions and concerns that you may have. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me by telephone or text at (734) 255-8034 or personal email listed below.
Welcome! For those who do not already know me, my name is Nancy Davis and I am the Vice President for Unit II. I took on a new position this year as a teacher consultant for the Public School Academies. I currently do not have a base location, however, when I do, I will get the information out to you. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me via my cell 734 476-8001 or personal email located below. I am also a delegate for the Huron Valley Area Labor Federation which falls under our PAC (political action committee). I am looking for members who would like to be a delegate with me or join the committee. If you are interested in hearing more about this, please contact me. Lastly, if you have completed at least 5 years of employment with the agency, please take a look at Article 24.1.2 of the unit II contract, You may be eligible to earn Life-Long Learning credit. We have a number of members who qualify and yet are not reaping the benefits of more money in their paychecks. Again reach out to me and your rep and we will be more than happy to assist you through the process.
Happy to see everyone coming back! I am John Miller. I work in maintenance and custodial work around the agency. I am located at the TLC but support all of the WISD sites. I represent Unit III, please let me know if I can help in any way.
We have a new COVID LOA that is very similar to the previous ones negotiated. It will be shared out in an email this week. Please see it for important information regarding sick time, school related, covid contacts, having covid, attendance incentives (unit I & III), home visits, etc. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the COVID LOA you feel need addressed please reach out to Regina Roza.
Please remember most of our Federation correspondences do not go through the WISD email. Please be sure to update your personal email with your representative and our treasurer, Charlotte White-Smith.
Your Executive Council Representative will communicate with you at least on a monthly basis via your personal email or text. This will keep you up to date on information passed along to them at our monthly Executive Council meetings. Your reps are also the starting point to answer questions or concerns you may have. Remember we can only help when we are aware of the situation. Our team meets on the first Monday of the month. Members are invited to attend the meetings in an observer role. The VP's, Secretary and President also meet the third Tuesday of the month with Management to problem solve. If you are unsure of your rep, please see the rep list. If you are not getting communication from your rep, please reach out to your VP and then the President if you don’t get a resolution.
This year we are giving everyone union shirts. We are asking that we show support and solidarity with our Federation. We would like everyone to wear their shirt on the first Friday of the month and on all in person staff development days. Thank you for showing that we are Stronger Together!
I hope you don't need this, but we need you to be prepared when entering meetings with management. If you are called in for a meeting or asked to do a written statement by management for any reason please contact your rep. In both instances you should have a conversation with your rep. We suggest anything you put into writing, you have a rep look at it. If you feel the meeting is OR could lead to discipline, you have the right to have representation of your choice from the Federation. You need to tell them that you are invoking your Weingarten rights (or that you want Federation representation) and the meeting MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY. Do not say anything else, then contact your representative. Nothing can proceed until you have representation present.
Fringe Benefit Meetings will be starting up soon. Anticipated enrollment is sometime in November for the new benefit year, January 2023. Remember for any “life change” you must have paperwork submitted with Rachel and BCBS within 30 days to make a change in benefits. If it is not completed within that time, you will not be able to make changes until the next open enrollment period. This is a government rule, not the WISD’s.
If you are interested in becoming more involved in your Federation, please reachout to see the ways you can help. Remember representative positions are up again in October.
