🐈 There is nothing better than a freedom run.🐾

That is what I'd ordinarily tell you. What made this one even more special was the caregiver being excited to have them come back. Excited enough to watch the release and cheer on the boy as he ran.

Glowrilla was a special kitty. He'll be parenting no more litters now, and was one of the few outstanding bachelors in Uptown.

🐈 Sometimes the trapping schedule chooses us 🐾

We originally received a call that this gentleman with the impressive tomcat cheeks had been squinting for several days, which immediately moved him to the top of our “must trap” list.

Since being trapped, his eye is now looking much better and appears to have improved. Even so, he’s staying on our priority list so we can move forward with getting him neutered and making sure nothing more serious is going on.

We’re pretty sure he had other plans for his day, but unfortunately those plans have been interrupted. 🐾

💛🐈‍⬛ Mama's Turn! 🐈‍⬛💛

A few days ago, we trapped her kittens. And now it’s Mama Cat’s turn—and she made us work for it! A drop trap was required, and she’s currently expressing her opinion about that decision.

Mama has her spay appointment on Monday and will be returned afterward to the place she calls home.

🐾 It's kitten season, and that means tiny paws, big appetites, and lots of important TNR work. 🐈‍⬛

We recently trapped FIVE kittens, and mama is officially on our list for a spay appointment. 💚

One thing we wish more people knew: when mom starts bringing kittens out to the food dish, it is time to start making a plan! The younger kittens are when they're trapped, the easier it is to socialize them and help them adjust to life with people. Every week matters.

If you find kittens outdoors, don't wait until they're running all over the neighborhood. Reaching out early gives them the best chance for a bright future and helps stop the cycle of more litters being born. 🐾 🐾

For now, these five are safe, warm, and probably plotting their revenge for being trapped. 🐈‍⬛

🐾💙 Big news for Ankeny community cats 🏛️💙

The City of Ankeny has officially adopted Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) ordinances! 🐈‍⬛

This is a major milestone that Ankeny TNR has been working toward for the past two years, and we are thrilled to see it finally in place! 💙

These ordinances create a clear, humane, and evidence-based path forward for community cats and the people who care for them 🐾

🐾💛 Happy update! 💛🐾

All six kittens are now safe!

After trapping 4 out of 6 kittens last week, mama moved the remaining two kittens out of the area. A couple days ago, she brought them back again… and today we were finally able to trap the last two fluff balls 🐾

That means every kitten from this litter is now off the streets and headed for brighter, safer indoor lives 💛

Mama is still proving to be our biggest challenge. She continues to avoid every trap set for her 🐾 She’s smart, cautious, and not making this easy—but we’re still working on her.

Getting mama spayed is just as important as saving the kittens. Once she’s spayed, vaccinated, and returned home, she’ll never have to raise another litter outdoors again.

Calypso was successfully trapped… and judging by those giant eyes, he would like to file a formal complaint immediately. 🖤👀

We tried explaining that snacks, safety, and a future neuter appointment are actually good things, but he remains deeply offended by the entire situation. 😂

Four tiny fluff balls are officially off the streets this morning! 🐾💛

We were able to safely trap 4 of the 6 kittens from this litter today. These fluffy little babies will now be heading to rescue where they’ll get the chance at the safe, loved indoor lives they deserve.

Tomorrow’s mission: the remaining two kittens… and hopefully mama.

And while the kittens are adorable, helping mama cat is just as important. If all goes well, she’ll be spayed, vaccinated, and returned to the place she knows as home — never having to go through another litter again. One spay changes everything for a community cat like her 🐈‍⬛

Every single rescue, spay/neuter, and happy ending is only possible because of our donors, supporters, and everyone cheering us on along the way. We truly could not do this without you. 💛

Yesterday, one of our members came across a heartbreaking situation — a kitten left behind after a homeowner removed a cover from their patio furniture. 😔🐾

When the cover came off, the mother cat grabbed one kitten and ran… but six hours later, she still hadn’t returned for the second one.

Our team stepped in and was able to safely get the remaining kitten. 🐾💛 While we are very grateful this baby is now safe, our goal in every situation is always to ensure the entire family is safely accounted for and helped whenever possible. We work hard to make sure no kitten or mother is left behind in the process of TNR and rescue efforts.

These situations are never simple, and not everything unfolds the way we hope, but every life we can bring to safety matters. 💛
