A FFA Week Feature: Alumni Member Spotlight 🎥🎬

My name is Kara Schreck and I am a proud member of the ADM FFA alumni. My family and I have a small farm south of Perry. I work for Corteva Agriscience as an CRM Employee Experience Manager.

My favorite FFA memory was my last national convention when I got my American Degree in Indianapolis! My mom had traveled with the chapter and I flew in after a college test. The group and experience was really special to finish my ffa career!

My favorite pastime about ffa was meeting people everywhere I went! I believe that ffa taught me that I could learn or do anything that I put my mind to.

I enjoy working with the FFA chapter now as kids work on learning new skills, particularly meat judging!

FFA doesn’t end at graduation.

The jacket gets hung up.
The meetings stop.
The contests end.
You don’t step in the ring again.

But it doesn’t leave you.

It shows up in how you run your business.
In how you show up for your family.
In how you raise your kids to work hard even when no one is watching.

It shows up in the way you shake someone’s hand.
The way you speak even when you’re nervous.
The way you finish what you start.

It shows up in how you handle loss.
In how you lead without needing the spotlight.
In how you keep going when things get heavy.

FFA didn’t just teach you about livestock and agriculture.
It taught you responsibility.
Work ethic.
Grit.
Confidence.

And those things don’t expire when you walk across a stage.

The jacket may come off…
but the lessons stay stitched in. 💙💛

Where do you see FFA showing up in your life today?

A FFA Week Feature: Alumni Member Spotlight 🎥🎬

Hi all! My name is Kaitie Jimmerson and I am apart of the ADM FFA alumni. I was a founding member of the ADM FFA chapter and 3 year officer. I am an Iowa State alum and now work for Farm Credit Services of America.

FFA helped me grow my passion for agriculture and learn many skills. Freshman year me would’ve never believed the voice I’d find and success I’d have through classes, contests and other FFA events. I have been fortunate to carry those skills throughout my leadership positions in college and into my career.

My favorite FFA memory is a toss up between many years showing at the Iowa State Fair and legislative symposium at the state capital!

A FFA Week Feature: Alumni Member Spotlight 🎥🎬

Hi! My name is Kate Long, though I still answer to Kate Collins. While Adel will always be “home,” I now live in Orient, Iowa with my husband, Cody, and our favorite pup, Frankie Lou.

My FFA journey was a little unique. During my first two years, I was a member of the Earlham FFA Chapter. I was fortunate to help found the ADM FFA Chapter and later served as the South Central District Reporter for a year. Some of my favorite FFA memories include visiting a to***co farm at National Convention and qualifying for National Soil Judging.

FFA will always hold a special place in my heart because it taught me so much. From helping start a chapter to selling fruit and pumpkins, networking, promoting agriculture, building passion, strengthening organization skills, and growing in public speaking, I am forever grateful for the experiences it gave me. I’m especially thankful for the ADM School District and the administration for their continued support of the ADM FFA! 💙💛

Fun Fact: I met my husband, Cody, at State Soil Judging our junior year, and Mrs. Gettler was his teacher for his first two years. So yes, we will forever be indebted 😉

A FFA Week Feature: Alumni Member Spotlight 🎥🎬

Hi! My name is Ella Moss-Gross, member of the ADM FFA Alumni chapter! I was lucky enough to be a founding member & officer of the ADM FFA Chapter when it was getting its start! I currently live in Perry with my husband Collin & two chunky black labs. I am a special education teacher at Panorama Elementary to children with a variety of needs.

FFA gave me the skills to be not only an advocate for agriculture but an advocate for my students. Speaking out for agriculture and for my students who receive special education services requires the same amount of strength, knowledge and gumption. FFA gave me many opportunities to speak publicly, run meetings and orchestrate events, which I now do daily at my job.

My favorite FFA memory has to be a FFA visit to John Deere that ended at the Pet Smart in Des Moines where we impulse bought a goldfish for Gettler to keep as a class pet, not sure how long it actually ended up surviving.. 🐠

Another Black Ties Blue Jackets gala on the books!

Alumni member Ella Moss-Gross and South Central Vice President Kelsey Greenslade enjoyed the evening which honors agricultural education, teachers and raises money to support the future of FFA in Iowa.
