As part of "National Friends of Libraries Week" - we are sharing some of the items we plan to fund at our Library in 2027! Today, we wanted to share about the Library Speakers Consortium!

This program allows our library patrons to register for upcoming talks from bestselling authors and thought leaders. Our partnership with this program allows us to provide you access to 2-3 live online events per month! And the best part? You can also watch them later when it works best with your schedule!

The "Friends" are proud to fund this program that brings some of your favorite authors right into your living room! Click here to view upcoming events: https://libraryc.org/ankenylibrary/upcoming

There's a little over a week left for you to cast your vote in our current Penny Wars Spooky Book Battle: "Creepy Carrots" vs. "Go Away, Big Green Monster!"

Make sure you cast your vote at the Circulation Desk before November 1! After that, we'll announce the winner on our social media and display a NEW battle for next month!

Thanks in advance for your vote, and for using your pocket change to help us make a BIG difference at the Library!

As part of "National Friends of Libraries Week" - we are sharing some of the items we plan to fund at our Library in 2027! Today, we wanted to share about the Iowa Libraries Adventure Pass!

This is a program that allows library patrons to use their library cards to visit area attractions such as the zoo, the science center, the Des Moines Children's Museum, Reiman Gardens and more!

The "Friends" are proud to fund these passes and give our patrons a chance to have some "adventures" with their family and friends! For more information about the Adventure Pass, ask at the Circulation Desk!

As part of "National Friends of Libraries Week" - we are sharing some of the items we plan to fund at our library in 2027! Today, we want to talk about the library's *many* book clubs!

Every month, the library hosts several different book discussion groups. Sets of books are purchased by the "Friends" for these different groups, which include books for patrons of different ages and books in all sorts of different genres.

Ready to join a book club? Check out the library's monthly calendar of events for upcoming meeting times/book selections!

Don't miss our next "Virtual Author Talk" tomorrow (Tuesday, 10/13) at 1 pm!

Join us for an inspiring conversation with bestselling author David Epstein as we explore his latest book, Inside the Box, and redefine how to approach our greatest challenges!

We are constantly told to "think outside the box" to innovate, solve complex problems, and reach our goals. But what if the secret to true breakthrough creativity and peak performance actually lies in working within our limitations? In his latest book, Epstein draws on science, research, and fascinating real-world case studies to demonstrate how constraints, boundaries, and structure can become powerful catalysts for ingenuity and mastery.

The Friends of the Ankeny Library are proud to fund these author talks in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium.
