What do you get when Rotarians spend an evening out and about? A cleaner community, a few full trash bags, lots of laughs, and one very tiny duck discovered along the way!

Thank you to our Rotary Club of Ankeny Evening members who volunteered their time last night to help clean up our community. Small acts of service make a big difference.

Last night our Rotary group traded service projects for putters and had a little fun playing mini golf! ⛳️

Friendship, connection and networking are a big part of Rotary too — and honestly, those relationships are what make our service work even stronger. Great laughs, great people and a great night! 💙💛

Great evening at Rotary last night!

We welcomed some wonderful guests, including Randy Clarkson from Johnston Rotary, who shared information about their June 22nd golf fundraiser supporting literacy initiatives. If you’d like more information, feel free to contact Randy.

Susan Mitchell also shared updates about Summerfest Parade volunteer opportunities.

One of the best parts of the evening was breaking into small groups for Team Time to plan our calendar for the next quarter. Lots of great ideas!

Good time had by all! 💙💛

📚 Representing the Rotary Club of Ankeny Evening, Steve and Brenda Wieneke presented a $280 donation to Northwest Elementary librarian Kayla Athy for new library books honoring our guest speakers from this past year.

We love supporting literacy and our community! ❤️

Service Above Self. 💙💛

Sometimes service looks like volunteering at a food bank.
Sometimes it looks like pulling weeds, planting flowers, or simply showing up for your community.

At Rotary, we believe small acts of service create a big IMPACT!

Guests are always welcome to join us in making a difference locally.

Last night the Rotary Club of Ankeny Evening had the opportunity to learn about the incredible work of Detective Kris Lindell and K9 Sandy from the Ankeny Police Department.

Sandy, a 6-year-old Labrador/Golden Retriever mix, is one of fewer than 300 Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K9s in the world! Donated to the Ankeny Police Department by the organization Our Rescue, Sandy works alongside Detective Lindell helping locate hidden electronics and important evidence in investigations.

One of the most interesting parts of the presentation was learning that Sandy works for her food. She trains multiple times every day and earns every meal directly from Detective Lindell’s hand — never from a bowl.

Of course, beyond all of her impressive skills, Sandy also loves people and happily showed off her talents for our group. 🐾

Thank you to Detective Kris Lindell and K9 Sandy for such a fascinating presentation and for the important work you do to serve and protect our community! 💙💛

Last night the Rotary Club of Ankeny Evening enjoyed a fun evening at the Iowa Cubs game!

We got the honor of throwing out the first pitch, and even got to enjoy Doggie Night at the ballpark with some very adorable four-legged fans. 🐶

The Cubs may not have pulled out the win, but our Rotarians still had a great time together enjoying community, baseball, and a little Rotary fellowship.
