Merry Christmas Eve “Eve”, Angels! I hope you are all ready to celebrate with beloved family & friends. We are only two days away!

I wanted to give everyone an update as to where we are with our donations this year.

We have collected a total of $680. We will be giving $200 to our recipient this year, and the balance of whatever we collect will be donated to the Ankeny Community School District to help provide lunches for families needing some help.

As a reminder, I will be continuing to take donations through the end of this year, since the kiddos are out of school for the holiday break.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, so far and made this another great year! Let’s see what we can do over the next week-and-a-half to drive those donations for the school lunch program! No amount is too small. Every little bit helps.

These are our future Ankeny Alumni, and we want them all to get their best chance at one of the greatest educations in the state, but they can’t do it on empty tummies.

We started all of this in 2013 and over the years have been able to surprise quite a few of our fellow alums with extra financial help when they have experienced unexpected challenges. Every year I ask Jami and Cliff if they are up for another year and every year Jami quickly responds that Ankeny Alumni Angels is something she looks forward to every year. Thank you to everyone who has donated ❤️ I would like us to become a nonprofit in 2026, no employees, just a volunteer board. 501c3 status could help us receive matching funds, formalize the process for nominations and continue this work years into the future. If you know of an attorney willing to donate their time to make this happen, please DM. We would also need to establish a bank account, so suggestions for a bank would be great! Good morning & Happy Wednesday, fellow Angels! I hope everyone is either done, or close to being done, with their Christmas to-do lists! I’m not quite there yet, but I’m getting closer! 😉

We have received several more donations, and I want to thank everyone who has donated so far! We truly appreciate the support and ability to help our Ankeny Alumni each year at Christmas! 🎄

I wanted to update everyone, as well about the funds being donated to the school district to go toward the lunch program for the kiddos. I spoke with Deb in the finance office today and she informed me that the program our funds would go to is called “FUEL” (Fuel Up Every Learner). The program is open to all grade levels at every school for both Ankeny and Centennial. She stated that the counselors at each school just kind of know the families that could use a little help or are struggling and they submit those names to the finance office to help them with school lunches. 🍽️

In light of this, we are going to keep accepting donations through the end of the year, since Christmas break starts for the kids in just two days. We will continue to collect through the end of December, and then, the first week of January, when the kids are back in school, I will be delivering the donations to the finance office! 💸

It’s nice to have a little extra time this year since we got a late start, anyway. I hope that you will continue to bless our alumni and our school district with whatever you are able to in the next couple of weeks!

I would like to get the donations, card & Angel to our recipient before Christmas next week, but will continue to collect donations for the school lunch program through the end of the year! 😇

Hello, Angels! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas out there! How are you all spending your snowy weekend? I’m purging, donating & trying to finish decorating for Christmas! Only 12 days left! 🎄

I know we got a late start this year, but we really want to try and bring our Christmas magic again for our chosen Alumni and for the Ankeny School District! We can do it! Happy Friday, Angels! Only 13 more days until Christmas! 🎄

We have chosen a recipient and a charity for our donations this year!

A. Jane Jacobson, Class of 1978, lost her husband recently. They had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. We would like to bless her this holiday season with a little something to treat herself 🪽

We will also be donating to the Ankeny Community School District to put money toward lunch balances for children. This has been a very tough year for so many of our families, and I know that lunch money can sometimes be a hardship for a lot of people. Our kiddos cannot learn properly without proper nutrition, and if we can help some of our up and coming Ankeny Alumni with this, what a blessing for all! 🍽️

We are so excited to be able to bless one of our Alumni this year and to also be able to be Angels for some of our Ankeny students to help ensure they receive a hot meal every day!

Season’s Greetings, fellow Angels! I hope everyone had a very blessed Thanksgiving. I know that a lot of of us have suffered a lot of loss this year with beloved parents and family members. I wish peace for all of us whose hearts are hurting and hope that our memories of our loved ones can bring us peace.

So, it’s (past 😬) that time, again. We are looking for anyone that has graduated from Ankeny High School that may be undergoing severe health issues or who has suffered a major loss this year. We have not received any ideas or names from anyone, as of yet, but woukd love to hear from you!

If we do not have anyone that we know of this year that is in need, what would everyone think about donating to our local food bank? This has been a very tough year for a lot of people and I know our local food banks are really struggling to keep up at the holidays.

We would be open to other ideas for donations, as well, but we would really like to help our fellow alumni, if at all possible. That is what this group was set up to do many years ago.

We are only about 10 days away from Christmas, so this year is a much shorter timeframe, but I know we can still do good and make an impact and a difference in the lives of those in need at the holidays!

Please reach out with your suggestions, as soon as possible! I will run it past the other coordinators and see what they think!

Thank you for all the good you have done all these years to remind our alumni that, in their time of need, we are still here for them and want to support them in anyway possible, especially during the holidays!

Hello, Angels! I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas! Now, on to the New Year!

I wanted to get an update to everyone on the donations for our three alumni. We have raised $540. I am making one final plea for anyone that would still like or be able to donate. We usually have double this amount that we split between one or two Alumni, so I would love to try & make one final push for donations! As I have said before, no amount is too small and all is appreciated!

Aside from the money that is collected, I also purchase an angel for each of them as well as a card from our Alumni Angels group, and I also send cards to all of our Alumni that have lost a loved one this year.

Thank you, again, to all of you who have donated! It’s appreciated more than you will ever know, not just by the recipients, but by me, as well!

I was one of two recipients in 2018, as I was in the middle of battling breast cancer, as was our other recipient. That was the first and only year that I did not handle the Alumni Angels Christmas donations. My co-partners wanted me to be able to just focus on myself and my health. I was completely humbled and overwhelmed with merely the thought that so many of you took time out of your busy holiday season and schedules to think about me and our other Alumni, and to bless us so kindly.

Wanted to give another update on our donations for our three alumni this year. We are currently at $410. That is so awesome from where we were last Sunday! Thank you so very much to all of you who have donated this week!

Once again, want to remind everyone that we are helping out 3 of our alumni this year, so donations are more important than ever. Just for reference, we usually raise around $1000 or more, and that’s usually for 1-2 alumni. Just wanted to put that out there, so you could understand the importance for donations this year to share with 3 of our classmates…

We have three alums that we have chosen for this year, and they are all either battling cancer currently, or have just finished treatment.

Hello, Angels! I just want to start by saying THANK YOU to everyone who so generously donated to our 2023 recipient! We are so very grateful for this wonderful group!

We ended up collecting $450 to give to her in cash, along with a beautiful “Journey” Willow Tree Angel and a card that talks about her “Journey” thru her breast cancer treatment and the challenges she has had to face thus far, and for those that lie ahead.

I will be delivering them to her this weekend! This was her first week back at work after chemo, and I have been so sick for the past couple weeks and did not want to risk getting her sick! She says she is feeling good and we are so happy to hear that!
