What is FIST?

FIST (Forever Improving Steuben County Together) was established at the Steuben County Community Foundation in 1996 in partnership with the Dekko Foundation. Today, the group is made up of 15-20 students from Angola, Fremont, and Hamilton schools who meet monthly to discuss ways to empower the youth of Steuben County. FIST organizes service projects at local nonprofits, such as Cahoots and Community Humane Shelter, as well as offering grant dollars to nonprofits and school projects that match their mission of empowering and inspiring youth to give their time, talent, and treasure. Collectively, FIST members volunteer more than 1000 hours a year of their time to improve their communities.
