October seed collections are officially upon us! 🌱

This year, more than ever, we need the Blue Crew community’s help to collect native seeds to plant at our Nasby Fen restoration project. This project was funded through a SOGL grant, to which we offered a match of 600 volunteer hours. We cannot reach this goal without you!

Please meet Nate at our office, located at 2985 N 300 W at noon tomorrow and every upcoming Saturday in October. All you need is a water bottle, long pants, and comfortable shoes! 😁

We have been loving the opportunity to work with so many local kiddos! They are enjoying learning about native plants, and helping us clean seeds for our Nasby restoration project.

❗️Event cancellation ❗️

Our seed collection event today, September 19th, is cancelled due to inclement weather. If you were looking forward to today’s event, don’t worry! We still have five Saturday seed collections this year!

We are asking our community to come together this October to help us reach our goal of 600 volunteer hours for our SOGL grant. We can’t reach this goal without you!

This year, we are collecting prairie seed to plant at our Nasby restoration project. The seed that you collect will be planted on a 1.25 acre restored gravel pit!

Please meet us at our shop (2985 W Orland Rd. Angola) at 10 AM on every Saturday in October:

These events will last roughly 4 hours. We will provide drinking water and all the tools you need, just bring yourself, long pants, and a smile!

Seed collection season is finally upon us! As the weather starts to cool down, and plants start to senesce for the year, it’s our job to collect seeds that will contribute to expansion of high quality native habitats.

This year, we are collecting prairie seed to plant at our Nasby restoration project. The seed that you collect will be planted in what used to be a gravel pit, restoring it into habitat that our wildlife can use!

Please meet us at our shop (2985 W Orland Rd. Angola) at 10 AM on the following Saturdays:

Looking for something fun and rewarding to do this weekend?

Please join us to collect native seeds! We will be planting these seeds at our Nasby Restoration site at Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area this winter. 🌱

We will meet near Peace Lutheran Church this Saturday at 10AM, and collect until 1. We will provide gloves, bags, and snacks for seed collection. Just bring yourself, a water bottle, and a smile! Due to the condition of the site, long pants and boots are preferred 🥾

At this event, you will have the opportunity to explore a beautiful sedge meadow, learn how to identify some native plant species, and contribute to a 230 acre ecological restoration!

The location for this event is down the drive directly east of the parking lot for Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont. We will meet near the community garden and walk to the site from there. Please reach out to Eva at [email protected] or 260-667-3414 with any questions regarding this event!

Seed collection season is upon us! 🌱

Join us this Sunday, June 14th, from 10-1, at Badger Barrens to collect seed from Sundial Lupine!

The seed collected will go towards our Nasby prairie restoration in Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife area. We will provide gloves and buckets, so all you will need are shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and a water bottle!

Help us improve Badger Barrens!
An invasive species has invaded one of the recent additions to our Badger Barrens property, and we need your help to remove it! 🌱

Please join us this Saturday, from 10-12, at Badger Barrens Nature Preserve to hand pull hairy vetch from a 3.5 acre area! We will provide gardening gloves, so all you have to bring is yourself, some comfortable shoes, and a smile! 😁

📢 We are asking for assistance from someone in our community! 📢

We're thrilled to be welcoming a summer intern, Ellasyn, to our team, and we're reaching out to our community for help with one important piece: finding her a place to stay.

We still have not secured a place for Ellasyn to stay, and she starts at the beginning of June.

It’s lupine season!! I know many of you in our community have been enjoying the Sundial Lupine at Badger Barrens, and the deer have been too! Last year, a hungry herd of deer ate most of the flower spikes off of the lupine, and they are back at it again. If you want to experience the beauty of a barrens ecosystem in full bloom, please come visit before the native wildlife makes it their dinner!

This is a great activity for Mother’s Day weekend, so hurry out before the blooms are gone!
