Another successful summer is in the books! ☀️💚🪁🌈

Camp Encore was an unforgettable week filled with excitement and some truly incredible visitors. We’re especially grateful to the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities Home and Community Based Services for helping make this week possible.

From dance parties and photo scavenger hunts to beach walks and lots of swimming, every day brought something new and exciting for our campers to enjoy.

A big thank you to Joe LaLonde and the team at CP Staffing for sponsoring Sunshine Day - which included lots of games and visits by Mercy Flight and a firetruck from the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company. They gave our campers such a fun and hands-on educational experience - definitely a highlight!

We wrapped it all up in the best way possible with Jeff Giovino and staff from the Coyote Café in Hamburg serving up a delicious dinner. They also brought a snow cone machine and foam cannon to keep the fun going!

Tomorrow evening, Wednesday, August 26, Cradle Beach campers will be participating in a special Sunshine Day event featuring a presentation by Mercy Flight and a visit from the local fire department. 🚁🚒

Eight brought all the Hollywood energy this week! From music to striking a pose, our campers were stars! We rolled out the red carpet and watched them do their best walk for the paparazzi.

Tuesday night was a showstopper as each cabin took the stage, performing music from a variety of genres. The talent and enthusiasm were unmatched🎤

A huge THANK YOU to M&T Bank for sponsoring our Sunshine Day! The dunk tank always is a crowd favorite, and your energy brought so much excitement and laughter to the day. We’re so grateful for your support 💚

We wrapped up the week with our “Night on the Town,” and it was jammed packed! Campers explored a stunt double course, bounce house, got pampered at the nail salon, danced the night away, checked out the Walk of Fame, enjoyed the ice cream cart (sponsored by our friends at Bailey Financial Group) and so much more! 🕺🪩🍦

Voluntary private action for the public good is as much a defining characteristic of philanthropy today as it was when our country was founded. For well over a century, Cradle Beach has been turning those donations into unforgettable summers filled with friendship, confidence and joy for children of all abilities. None of this would be possible without our incredible community of families, supporters and volunteers.

Session Seven took us around the world 🌍✈️

From Colombia to Jamaica, Nigeria to Mexico, Spain to Poland and so many more. Our campers explored new cultures, traditions and unforgettable experiences all week long. Thanks to our incredible international staff, PlayStations were filled with authentic cuisine, art, music, dancing and games that brought each country to life in such a fun way.

Sunshine Day was extra special thanks to the Kenmore Rotary Club, who brought the Buffalo Zoomobile to camp! Our campers loved getting up close and learning about incredible animals from around the world 🐾

To top off the week, The Children’s Guild Foundation surprised everyone with an ice cream truck! Perfect for a hot summer day and big smiles all around 🍦

Cradle Beach was both honored and delighted to join our partners at Moog Inc. in celebrating their 75th anniversary and cutting the ribbon on their new leading edge 150,000 square foot Advanced Integrated Manufacturing facility. We extend our sincere congratulations to Pat Roche, President & CEO, and the entire Moog team.

Once upon a time… Session Six was full of laughter, a little bit of magic and somehow… a lot of blue paint 💙

Last week had a little bit of everything. Campers jumped into “Anything for Glory,” choosing their own challenge, like turning their counselors into Smurfs in under three minutes (yes, that’s where the blue paint came from 😂), racing in a Humpty Dumpty spoon challenge, a very questionable “brush your teeth with mayo” game (don’t worry it was actually vanilla pudding), a shoe scavenger hunt and a sandcastle building contest.

In between all the fun and chaos, campers also slowed things down to create their own fairy doors and add a little extra magic to camp ✨

And just like that… our fairy tale week came to an end. This week: we’re heading Around the World 🌍

Take a break from your chores tomorrow, August 1, and bring your hunger to the Valu Home Centers store at 396 Kenmore at Englewood between 11am and 2:30pm. You'll find a great lunch deal waiting for you - hot dog, chips and a drink for only $5! You know a trip to the hardware store is a Saturday staple anyway, so why not help Cradle Beach too?
