It is with profound sadness that the Hill family and the Aneth Point community announce the passing of Anthony Hill, who departed this life on Sunday. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Anthony Hill was born to Helena Mae Lee (Hill) and David Hill Sr. He was the third of four brothers, making him a middle child. As a middle child among brothers, he was spirited and rebellious, yet thoughtful and caring. He carved his own path through life with quiet determination, guided always by a strong sense of what mattered most to him.

Anthony found his greatest joy and purpose in becoming a father and having a family from a young age. He became a father, but as our brother, he showed both shyness and toughness. He leaves behind his children, who inherit his marked strength, skill, courage, and love. Anthony's children embody the resilience and hidden depths he carried throughout his life, just as his siblings, parents, family, and friends were significant influences on him.

Anthony is survived by his children and his mother, Helena Hill. He was preceded in death by his father, David Hill Sr., his three brothers, two of his sons, and other relatives who went before him.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by the Aneth Point family. Service details will be shared at the Aneth Chapter on Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, at 5:00 pm. During this difficult time, the family deeply appreciates your kind words, memories, prayers, and contributions. Thank you for your support. 🙏

A decision to relocate horse racing operations from Sun Ray would likely be met with considerable disappointment by Native American horse racing owners, trainers, and their families.
We look forward to the opening season each year. We sincerely hope for a favorable decision regarding this matter. Such an outcome would be greatly appreciated by our horse racing owners. It would also bring considerable joy to the surrounding communities. Many individuals are eagerly anticipating a positive resolution. We trust that all relevant considerations will be taken into account.

Good morning to all horseowners and trainers plus jockeys, our families and friends.

Today, we gather to lay David Hill Jr. to rest. While we are experiencing a profound loss, your collective strength has provided us with comfort as we approach this day. We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support and love. Our sincere thanks extend to everyone who thought of us and his children during this difficult time. David Hill Jr. would often tell us, in Navajo, "táadoo shaa nanináhi," which translates to "Don't worry about me." These would be his words to all of us. áshiine shinaaí.

Our Aneth Point family has lost a truly valued member. Mr. David Hill Jr. was more than a brother, son, nephew, uncle, and friend; he was a dedicated father. His passing was sudden and unexpected.

David was an exceptional brother and a caring father to his children, the Bowmans. As the AP siblings, we remember him as our protector and acknowledge that he lived his life on his own terms. Throughout it all, he demonstrated that life is a series of both positive and negative risks, and mentioned to embrace each moment as it comes.

Throughout his life, he embraced risk and adventure. As a young adult, he rode as a jockey in the early 80s to 90s, and he was also a boxer. Among his many achievements, he was a certified heavy equipment operator, worked on oil rigs, road construction, and trained horses. In later years, he was our family’s trusted horse keeper and frequently stepped in to care for the horses while our family horse owners worked. He ensured that the horses were adequately nourished, placed on their early morning horse walker, and properly hydrated.

David, your mischievous, notorious, and loving personality left a lasting impression on us all. Our family has lost not just a son, brother, father, nephew, and friend, but a remarkable individual whose presence will be deeply missed.

We kindly ask those who knew him to please support us in covering the costs of his funeral. Please consider reaching out to our aunt Esther Lee at 435-320-0424 to contribute towards David's funeral expenses. She can accept donations via Cash App, as shown in the photos. Your generous support and kindness during this difficult time mean a great deal to us. Thank you for your compassion.
