Pinwheel Murphy is hosted by Mountainview Church in Murphy on Mondays & Tuesdays. It starts later into the fall, so there’s plenty of time to help us get the word out & prepare a great Pinwheel Murphy team for this school year!

Jesus often quoted from the book of Isaiah & showed us God’s heart for justice & the vulnerable through how He lived & taught.

Just as Isaiah repeatedly condemns empty shows of religion & exhorts lives lived in love & care for the vulnerable, Jesus consistently reproved the empty rule-keeping of the Pharisees & their obsession over doctrinal disagreements between them & the Sadducees. Jesus showed with His teaching & daily life what it looks like to pursue “mercy not sacrifice.” Hosea 6:6

This past Tuesday at Faith & Finances we created our spending plans, then played a game to see which group could come up with the most ways to save money & cut expenses!

We are working on our budgets so they will better reflect our values & help accomplish the work of God’s kingdom in the world!

There will always be internal & external obstacles we have to face, but it’s easier with each other’s support, accountability, & the power of prayer.

Three years ago we were dreaming of one day being able to open a group home so more foster kids could stay in-county instead of having to not only leave their home & family, but also their friends, school & community!

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

Did you know Jesus talks more about money & possessions than any other topic in the gospels? It’s worth a deep dive! Too often we allow our culture & selfishness or fear guide the use of what God has entrusted to us for the sake of His kingdom!

But Jesus knew that our heart will follow our treasure, so, as the ultimate lover of our hearts, He had a lot to say about that treasure.

Here are 4 reading recommendations to immerse yourself in Jesus’ teachings on money & stewardship:

1. Read the gospels & take notes on any time Jesus talks about money or possessions. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you!
2. Randy Alcorn’s books on money/treasure
3. Practicing the King’s Economy
4. Becoming Whole

Our 4th round of Faith & Finances starts Tuesday! If you want to support this program, here are a few opportunities to help:

1. Pray on Tuesdays for our participants, allies, & childcare workers.
2. Volunteer to help with childcare on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 so single moms can go to class!
3. Provide a main course for 15-20 people one Tuesday.
4. Share this post with someone who might want to help support this ministry!

It really takes a team to pull this class off.
Right now our biggest need is someone to head up the childcare. If you’re a dad or mom, you could even bring your own kids along for those two hours to play at the playground or the Pinwheel building!

Faith & Finances shares the gospel, builds gospel-centered relationships, teaches practical finance skills with the kingdom of God as the goal, & provides support & incentive for real growth! This is a great way to share God’s love this summer.

Behind the scenes of Good Ground.. Little takes one of the kids on a long walk to give her mom a break as she tries to pack up her mom’s apartment.

We thank God for the team of allies & leaders who stepped up this past week to help one of our moms at Good Ground deal with the sudden loss of her own mom through helping with her kids, helping pack up & clean her mom’s apartment, checking in, listening & mourning with her… it is truly beautiful to see the love of Christ in action.

Please continue to pray for the moms & children at Good Ground this summer and for those giving of themselves to provide much-needed support.
