Every box, can, hygiene item, donation, volunteer shift, and shared post helped make Sunday’s drive possible. Thank you to our Franklin and Newton supporters, the Weis Markets teams, and everyone who made room in a shopping cart for a local student.

The real work continues after the event. Donations are sorted, packed, and prepared for discreet weekly delivery through participating schools. Your generosity becomes practical care, one bag at a time.

We are grateful to be part of a community that does not look away when students need support.

Keep the momentum going by volunteering for a packing shift or donating from our wish lists.

Today’s meal can help support weekends for local students. Join The Weekend Bag Program for Dine to Donate at Jersey Mike’s, 13 Hampton House Road in Newton.

Community fundraisers give neighbors an easy way to support the mission while connecting with local businesses that care about Sussex County. Before visiting, check the official event details for any flyer, code, eligible hours, or purchase requirements.

Thank you to Jersey Mike’s and every community member who chooses to turn lunch or dinner into local impact.

🌿 Lace up your hiking boots and save the date! The Hudson Farm Hopatcong Charity Hike is happening October 17.

Enjoy breathtaking scenery, great company, and the opportunity to support local charities that are changing lives every day. Registration is free, and lunch is available after the hike! 🥾☀️

Adding one extra item to your cart can help a local student head into the weekend with greater security. Current accepted donations include shelf-stable foods such as soup, cereal, pasta, fruit snacks, mac and cheese, granola bars, tuna, ramen, applesauce cups, and kid-friendly meals. Hygiene needs include shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, tissues, and laundry soap.

Please choose nonperishable products and avoid glass containers. Bring your donation to the October 11 Stuff the Van drive or use the program’s online wish lists. Small additions from many shoppers can create meaningful support..

Weekend hunger can be difficult to see, and asking for help can feel even harder. That is why The Weekend Bag Program works directly with school administrations and designated liaisons. Schools identify the students who may benefit, communicate the number of bags needed, and distribute support discreetly.

Students receive food and hygiene essentials without being publicly identified or placed under additional stress. The process is built around trust, consistency, and dignity.

Behind every bag is a quiet promise: you matter, your needs matter, and your community is here for you.

A new school week is coming, and together we can help make sure local students have food and hygiene essentials waiting for the weekend.

Join The Weekend Bag Program for our October Stuff the Van Food and Hygiene Drive on Sunday, October 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Weis Markets in Franklin and Newton. Purchase an accepted item while you shop, make a monetary donation, or stop by to learn how this youth-led program supports students across Sussex County.

Every donation becomes part of a discreet Weekend Bag delivered through a trusted school liaison. Let’s fill both vans and fill more weekends with care.

🚐 IT'S OCTOBER, LET’S STUFF THE VAN! 💙

Our Stuff the Van Food & Hygiene Drive is happening this Sunday, October 11, and we’d love to see you there!

📍 Weis Markets – Franklin & Newton
🕤 9:30 AM–3:00 PM

We’ll be collecting food and hygiene essentials to help support local families and individuals in our community.

🛒 Heading to Weis on the 11th? Pick up a few extra items and bring them to our van!

Every donation—big or small—helps us keep our shelves stocked and our community supported. 💙

181 Weekend Bags packed with care! 💙

A big thank-you to the Valley Bank associates from Chester, Sparta, Hackettstown, and Succasunna who joined us from Warren, Morris, and Sussex counties.
Together, we assembled 181 Weekend Bags, including the school supply bags we’re offering this year. The team also inventoried our warehouse, helping us identify what was still needed for our first week on September 23.
We’re grateful for your time, teamwork, and support for local students!
And there’s more to come!
We’re partnering with Valley Bank on Money Matters, a new program offered to our schools through our Beyond The Bag division.

SOME DAYS ARE BUSY. SOME DAYS SHOW YOU WHAT LEADERSHIP LOOKS LIKE. 💙

Wednesday was one of those days at The Weekend Bag Program.

With approximately 15 Wallkill Valley Regional High School Science Honor Society students and one advisor volunteering at the warehouse, Magee led the group and introduced them to the mission and importance of helping others in our community.

But that was only part of her day.

Wednesdays are already among our busiest days because we also handle school deliveries and our Beyond the Bag transition program pick-up and drop-off.

Magee also worked with six school transition programs, helping students through the process of picking up and dropping off their items. Each group includes 5–10 special education students.

All of this happened while she was running the warehouse without her usual support that day.

The Wallkill Valley advisor was incredibly impressed by Magee’s knowledge, leadership, and confidence—and we couldn’t be prouder.

💙 Volunteers don't just give their time. They become part of the mission.
