5/6/2025: Today would have been our Magnolia Day’s 6th birthday. It feels like I’ve been gearing up for this day for weeks. As Spring peaks out of the gloom, it’s like Nola is everywhere. The Magnolia trees bloom and scent the air - her name inviting sweet messages from loved ones thinking of her. Jazz Fest in New Orleans and the memories of dancing with her there, still safe and vibrant. It’s a time filled with deep breaths and colorful feelings, all of them welcome. Being a parent to a child who is not living requires a lot of thoughtfulness and creativity. I’m learning everyday. I’m grateful to Nola for encouraging the deep patience, empathy, and generosity needed for the journey. Sending out the brightest rays of love in her honor. Happy 6th Birthday to my darling daughter.

October 15th is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness day. On this day from 7-8pm (or honestly whenever you can because we’re all doing our best!), people light a candle in memory a baby in their lives who died too soon. These candles punctuate the darkness, shedding light on something so heart achingly sad that the gloom sometimes feels inevitable. So with each candle flame - so many burning bright tonight - we feel the darkness shift and the light come in. 💜⚜️

Today would have been Magnolia’s first day of Kindergarten and we’re missing her a lot. Bus rides with her sister, her name being called aloud from a class roster…so many little vignettes that we imagined and had to reimagine. Sending love and understanding to all those missing a wee one this back to school season. 💜⚜️

Bereaved Mother’s Day - the ultimate IYKYK. It’s a day that acknowledges and honors moms whose children have died. We had never heard of this day before Magnolia died and as we prepare for her 5th birthday, we are realizing that we actually found out on Bereaved Mother’s Day 2019 that she would be stillborn. This day is always extra special/heartbreaking/hard/upsetting/important…IYKYK. 💜⚜️

October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Today we light a candle as part of the Wave of Light in remembrance of Magnolia Day and so many others. We are honored to be even a small part of their stories. 💜⚜️

Admittedly, we didn’t know that October is month before we started navigating that journey ourselves. It can feel like a really lonely path, so let’s continue to talk about it. Let’s say our babies’ names. Let’s reach out to others living through loss. Sending love and understanding this month and always. 💜⚜️

Today is a very important day as it is our Magnolia's 4th Birthday and 2 years since we launched Care of Nola. We are so grateful for all the support we have received as we continue to keep her legacy alive. ⚜💜
